Story

This is a Gold Coast icon, situated firmly in the heart of Surfers Paradise - and in the heart of many locals. Earlier in 2017 the old Islander Resort was purchased by Brisbane heavyweight Katarzyna Group - famous for the uber-successful Cloudland, Empire Hotel and Press Club - and is now being fully redeveloped to launch in 2017 as THE ISLAND, the new jewel in the crown of our most beloved summer holiday hotspot.

THE ISLAND is all about enjoying the good things in life, like eating, drinking and relaxing with family & friends, while staying in a stunning boutique hotel which has everything you look for on a holiday to the Gold Coast. Spectacular fit outs in true Katarzyna style will create a relaxed, luxe beach house vibe, with multiple dining and drinking options to suit locals and international visitors alike.

Queenslanders often take for granted the dazzling beauty of our south-east corner, so it seems only fair that THE ISLAND is being created so that guests from all over the world can share in a piece of what we wake up to every morning.

For lazy afternoons, family fun or full blown summer sessions, THE ISLAND Rooftop Bar opens on level 1 this December and will be the ultimate unrivalled outdoor destination.

A boutique hotel with views of the beach and a stone's throw away from main shopping strip in Surfer's Paradise. It was also conveniently on the corner of the main roads next to a bunch of restaurants, from Thai and Vietnamese to Italian and Greek customers, you won't be left hungry. Their restaurant itself boasts a great variety of menu items and I wish I had another day to sit down and try some of their menu items. We were pleasantly surprised at their vegan offering as most hotels still skip over plant based offerings when planning their menu. The room itself was tastefully decorated with the most comfortable beds our whole trip compared to the "4.5 star" hotel bed we slept in in Brisbane CBD. The bathroom was small but modern and the white tiles gave it a roomier feel. We will definitely stay at The Island on our next trip.

Perfectly located and really nice boutique hotel in the middle of Surfers. The rooms are fitted well and feel clean and comfortable. We had a nice view from the 10th floor looking towards the beach. The bed is really comfortable and there are basic amenities in the room (no mini bar but who needs it!). The bathroom and shower are small but very nice! There is plenty of parking available for guests, we parked in the outdoor car park which I found to be more convenient. They make nice coffee downstairs, have a bar, nice pool and everything you need. Only minutes walk to the main shopping area in Surfers and the beach. Highly recommend!

The renovations that to place a year ago makes the place for the price range. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the fittings fixtures and all the little touches are just excellent. Well done to the staff, the cocktail on arrival complimentary was fantastic and the breakfast included was beyond our expectation I say nothing but good things about a time that the Islander Resort

It's probably a 4 star hotel based on hotel ratings. But it was a 5 star experience. Great location, the swimming pool was enjoyable, quite deep which was good fun for diving and jumping in. Room was large. We paid quite a bit but we booked very late on Christmas week. However I'd assume it would be better value other times. Staff was fantastic, no complaints whatsoever.

We are locals, and with a young family this is our favorite spot. We loved eating at Surf Clubs for the views, but love people watching here on the street front. The back area has great activities for kids up to 12 years. New table top computer games suits the ages above with classic computer games on multi- selection. Can't fault food, and serviced is laid back casual. When out the back you may need to remind them you are there when they are quiet. Upstairs is child free with DJ's and live radio streaming from this rooftop bar. Haven't been here after hours but would love to check it out!
