Rydges is in a great location if you’re attending an event at the nearby stadium. However, as we were staying here for the final part of our honeymoon, we felt a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, especially as we didn’t have a car. There is a bus stop close to the front of the hotel, which was very helpful, but I would still recommend having a car if you plan to explore the surrounding area.nnOur room overlooked a car park, and the shower temperature was extremely unpredictable. Every evening, it would suddenly change from cold to extremely hot without us adjusting the taps.nnBreakfast service was also disappointing, as it was often difficult to find a staff member to provide our room number to or request eggs. One morning, we waited at the entrance for quite some time before eventually walking in and asking someone near the coffee machine for assistance, only to be pointed towards another staff member.nnThe hotel appears to cater mainly to conferences, and unfortunately, a conference group staying during our visit used a lot of inappropriate language in the bar. This made the evenings feel far from romantic while we were on our honeymoon.nnOn a positive note, the room service was lovely, and loved seeing all the rugby jerseys on display. The guest laundry is it a bit pricey, so I would recommend bringing your own laundry products if you plan to use it. Sadly, our stay made the final part of our honeymoon feel a little disappointing. :

We decided to book two nights at Rydges Latimer in Christchurch when they had an amazing deal on their website, which included free parking, breakfast and 1pm late checkout. This place is gorgeous! The parking is a little squishy, but to get free parking with the deal was amazing and we left our car and walked into the city through our stay which was super convenient. The only thing was the lady who checked us in didn't get our registration number on our car and so when we left that evening for dinner we ended up paying a parking fee, however when we brought it to receptions attention our money was reimbursed, so just bare in mind if you have free parking when staying here, make sure you give the reception your rego number. If you don't have free parking it is $29 a day. The staff were always friendly and nice to deal with. The room, which we upgraded to executive king was beautiful, had some nice luxurious fittings and the bed was like sleeping in a cloud. Even had a coffee pod machine in the room and a decent size TV. Loved the huge comfy chairs in the room. My favorite feature was the fresh air button that allowed a burst of fresh air into the room, best feature ever! And the room smelt amazing too. Super clean, which is a credit to the housekeeping staff who work so hard. We loved the welcome gift for our special trip, thank you so much and also we got a voucher for a drink each from the bar, choice of either house wine, beer or soft drink which is a lovely touch. The bar is huge, amazing selection of drinks and cocktails, whiskey and rums. The buffet breakfast is delicious, a good selection of hot breakfast food, including breakfast sausages, house made hash browns, eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon and even the most fluffiest pancakes which were my favorite, and porridge with cream. Yummy iced tea, yoghurt smoothie drinks and even a bloody mary if you wish. Nice selection of cereals, pastries, and fresh fruits. Also love the fresh juices on tap! Coffee was also good. We dined in one of the nights we were staying at Bloody Mary's restaurant which Ive done a seperate review for, but if you are going to stay here....I 1000% recommend booking in for dinner here, the food is outstanding!! We managed to get a booking through first table and we got to try the Butchers block and it was incredible! The staff at the restaurant are fabulous, friendly and attentive. Overall Rydges Latimer is a beautiful place to stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and we cant wait to return again. Thank you.

For our one night stay in Christchurch our agent booked us in here. Pleasantly surprised. We were met on reception by a lovely young lady who was very friendly and efficient. Our large room was lovely and a super shower in the bathroom. Beds firm but comfortable and the room had all the mod cons. Buffet breakfast was very good and a good choice. Location was superb, easy to walk into this lovely, vibrant city. We just loved our stay and wished it was for longer

An exceptional stay. Everything was high quality from the service at reception to the restaurant. I wish I actually got the man’s name on the desk because both check in and check out he was so kind, helpful and accomodating. Happy to answer queries and solved any issues we had some minor online check in things. It’s not something you find these days to be honest!nHonestly, I travel a lot and have stayed all over the world and this was the most fantastic service.nnThe restaurant food was also delicious for dinner and breakfast.nnThanks for a great stay for myself and family.
