It’s not the fanciest hotel but perfectly suited our needs. Clean comfortable in great location with cheap parking across the road. Lots of great eating places nearby and a reasonable bar and restaurant on site.

I had booked rooms here for two nights. The room was very large and had all the amenities; the bathroom was very clean and tidy. The reception staff at this hotel were very clear, excellent, and cooperative; we were very pleased. I had gone by car, but I was not given a parking space. Therefore, I parked my car in the public parking lot across the street and was paying for it. The breakfast was excellent and of high quality; I liked it.

Nice location and good price. I had issues with my booking, placing it on the wrong date. I needed it moved forward one day, it was my mistake and was happy to pay the difference. This took about 8 phone calls and 4 days to sort out. In total the difference I had to pay was $5. It seemed that a simple change was made very difficult and stressful. The rooms are ok, small and feeling a bit out of date. I was surprised to see that they only supply body wash and no shampoo, bad sign of cost cutting. Breakfast was great, good selection of food for the additional cost, felt like really good value.

I have been a loyal customer of Accor network for many years, but my recent experience with Ibis Christchurch was dissatisfying for me and other guests. The room temperature was too cold. The aircon blows too cold air which is getting more comfortable if set to max 30 degrees only. The main issue with my stay this time was, actually, the both lifts, which did not work. Staying at the level 7 was not comfortable because of the need to use the stairs, especially when carried laggage. The last day of my stay was very special because I got stuck in the small lift with 5 other people and laggage on a way down. We had to wait for the Fire Brigade to arrive and rescue us. I was late for my job meeting as well as other people in the lift. As I found out from other guests the hotel lifts get stuck regularly and need professional repair. It is also a safety issue that requires urgent addressing by the hotel management. I would like to say, that the hotel team did their best to help the customers and it was much appreciated by the guests.
