Chateau on the Park - Christchurch, a DoubleTree by Hilton

A very warm, cozy and inviting experience while in Christchurch.nnThe hotel is well equipped, well maintained and very well managed. It should cater to all kinds of leisure and business stays alike.nnThey have during weekends nice events such as the pizza in the garden with live music.nnAll the staff are very helpful and friendly.nnI’d like to particularly thank Anna from the reception as she helped me organize a little surprise treat for my wife we both work at the same company that was coincidentally staying in the hotel just 2 days after my departure from it.nnThank you very much Anna!nnThank you Chateau on the park staff for the wonderful stay.

The property is located near many walkable activities. It is beautifully maintained. They serve delicious meals on the menu. Loved the food. The cocktails are limited but you get variety of wine and other distilleries. The rooms are clean and the hotel staff is friendly.

This Hotel is very old and run down.nnIt's functional and clean, but really showing its age and for the prices of the rooms, there are many newer Motels with modern features for less near by.nnVery noisy with people walking by the room and people next door, seems like no sound proofing at all.nnThe restaurant is a basic room like a food hall in a mall, but their prices are high as if it had real ambience, we passed on that.nnOver all, a disappointing stay for us.

I really loved staying at Chateau on the Park.nnThe hotel is located next to Hagley Park. Hagley Park is extensive and has a nice botanic garden. It is about a one mile walk through the park to get to Christchurch city center. I really liked the location because the park is a nice buffer between the city. It is quite easy to get around on foot.nnThe rooms are nice. I would say the beds are softer than I would like. However, that is a personal preference. I would also note that the shower is small and there is no shelf to put anything. I am not sure why so many Hilton showers are designed this way!nnThe restaurant in the hotel is good. The breakfast options are solid and I had dinner there one night. The lamb was really good!nnThe hotel staff was friendly and I enjoyed 5 nights in the hotel.

We stayed here for one night as part of a road trip for our honeymoon. The hotel was kind enough to make up our room specially for our honeymoon, including a bottle of bubbly, flower petals on the bed, and a card. It was a very nice touch!nThe room was clean and the hotel was in a great location near the botanical gardens and several restaurants.
