We stayed here for one night and were warmly welcomed late in the evening by the concierge, who helped us with parking the car and bringing our luggage to our room. She immediately suggested how to make the most of our few hours in the city the following morning, what to visit, and how to get around while avoiding Wellington’s morning traffic – wow, thank you again!nThe room was simple, with all the essentials.nKnowing it was our honeymoon, they surprised us with two chocolate treats in the room, complete with a handwritten note –such a lovely gesture!nThe continental breakfast was good.nIf you’re a Lord of the Rings fan, don’t miss this hotel – it has a few not-so-hidden surprises!

I just got back from a stay at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, and wow, what a great experience! My room on the 26th level offered amazing views of the city the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. When I checked in, In my room I was welcomed with a complimentary glass bottle and some delicious chocolates, which was such a nice surprise!nnThe room itself was super spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed? Absolutely comfy! I had some of the best sleep I've had in a while, thanks to the cozy bedding.nnLet’s talk breakfast! The buffet was fantastic. There was so much to choose from, but I have to give a shoutout to the chef for frying my eggs just right and whipping up an omelette that was simply delicious. It really set the tone for a great day.nnThe staff here were friendly and helpful, always there when I needed something. Plus, the hotel is in a prime location, making it easy to explore the area.nnOverall, my stay at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor was fantastic. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfy and enjoyable place to stay in the city.

If you are booking via a secondary website that includes breakfast make sure you confirm this on check in, breakfast was AMAZING though yumm. They possibly need more cleaning staf as we spent the day out, got back and our room was still not serviced. The location is great but I found the cbd rather boring, you need to travel further out for kids fun

I had an amazing experience at The Cook James Hotel. The highlight was definitely the restaurant – Lance was absolutely exceptional. His service was attentive, warm, and professional, making the meal even more enjoyable. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious, but it was Lance’s hospitality that really stood out and made the morning memorable. Highly recommend!

We just spent 3 nights here. The service at check in and out was amazing and very helpful. The room was so lovely and clean, beds comfortable, shower was amazing, towels were a great size, bigger than other hotels and loved the bathroom products. Loved that the lifts took us right down to Lambton Quay, so convenient. Room service was great and yummy food and delivery. We had our daughters birthday dinner at the hotel restaurant, it was lovely, was a bit of a wait for our meals but it was ok we had a couple of xtra drinks during the wait time. Our server was outstanding think her name was Katie We will definitely be booking future stays in Wellington here.
