The premium king room we booked was very comfortable and clean, thanks to our room attendant Asheelta who was very helpful. Quality bathroom products Byredo. Complimentary apples in the pool approach we took advantage of daily. We booked one night in the Club Lounge for $175 which we thought was very good value for two people, afternoon tea, complimentary canapes and unlimited drinks between 5 and 7 p.m. and good spread buffet breakfast the following morning. Yumiko was very welcoming. The concierge staff were very helpful and full of information, maps and guides. Jeromy was always full of smiles. Overall, we thought the hotel was excellent, best we've been to in our many years of overseas travel. We walked across from the arrivals to the Super Shuttle, only $14 each for friendly and informative door to door service to cbd hitels. We booked the return to the airport and they kept us informed of their expected arrival time at the hotel. Overall holiday was very impressive, lots to do to keep us busy for two weeks, despite the 'Windy Welly' breeze we had to contend with most days!
Excellent customer service. The facility was top notch and the continental breakfast was amazing. The cooks were friendly and did cook to order. We did have an issue of smelling smoke but the manager and went out of their way to ensure we had a positive experience. Would recommend to friends and family
Is this really supposed to be a 5-star hotel? Well, maybe that’s the ambition — but in reality, it’s only fulfilled in very limited areas, such as by the concierge, who was excellent.nnThe reception experience, however, was disappointing. In most 5-star hotels, you’re greeted with eye contact and acknowledgment as soon as you approach. Here, only one of four desks was staffed, and the receptionist was on the phone for 10 minutes handling a booking for next year. There was no eye contact, no gesture to acknowledge waiting guests, no attempt to call a colleague for assistance, and afterward, not even an apology for the wait.nnAt breakfast, the organization was equally frustrating. A large group had been registered by name and time in advance. Naturally, once the group had finished, the buffet was largely cleared out. Instead of anticipating this predictable situation and having replacement dishes prepared in the kitchen, staff only began arranging new food after the buffet was already empty. That seems like an organizational issue.nnIt was also confusing that the person who appeared to be responsible for greeting guests at breakfast was instead clearing and cleaning tables inside the restaurant. While that’s certainly helpful, it leaves waiting guests outside unsure of what to do. Additionally, on every single day, the coffee we ordered was forgotten and had to be requested again.nnI have to say, I’ve experienced better service in several 3-star motels in New Zealand. For a hotel positioning itself as a luxury property, this was disappointing.
We had a harbour view executive room on New Year’s Eve which gave us great views of the fireworks. Breakfast at the executive lounge was excellent. It also had a good sized indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna. Staff were friendly throughout our stay. The hotel is undergoing some renovations due to complete soon which reduced the check in area but otherwise we didn’t really feel the impact.
We absolutely loved our stay here. We stayed club level for my birthday and it was amazing. The food, staff and service was out of this world. We live in Australia and are coming again for a long weekend and cannot wait as we haven't stop thinking of the wonderful time we had. 10/10!
