We came to the hotel for a one night anniversary stay in town. We dined in the restaurant that evening and the food itself was very good. But the ambiance was lacking, service was acceptable, but for a supposed 5 star hotel, found the decor and general layout to be more like a breakfast place converted for dinner.The heating in the room did not work upon arrival, however a very nice repairman did repair immediately saving grace, The room itself we found a bit dated, could use a spruce up, bed was good, shower was not, room in general was not well appointed. Did not consider this a 5 star hotel, more like 3 stars for the price paid.
Wonderful location! Walked into town to several museums, walked to the cable car and then back to the hotel through the botanical gardens and cemetery. Close to numerous restaurants. Offered a good a la cart breakfast. Wonderful view.
The interior of some of the rooms are nice, but that is where it ends. My room had a bath/shower combo and the bath would creek extremely loud when standing in it. The staff upon arrival was rude as, no eye contact and having zero compassion, making us wait up until exactly 3PM before giving room card. Was charged for minibar items that we never consumed - no proof given, just a rude email. Prices are way too high compared to other hotels in better locations.
We have just done 3 weeks of traveling around NZ, Bolton was by far our favorite place to stay.nnClean, Comfy beds & The food is really good.nnWe ate at the restaurant 2 nights and got room service both days for breakfast. All was so yumm.nnWe will be back.
Very convenient hotel based in city. Close access to government buildings.nGreat restaurant on first floor.
