The hotel is modern and classy. We were being upgraded and our rooms were huge and super spacious. I’d also like to thank Miss Bella Lorenza for sending us a bottle of complimentary wine. The location was fantastic, right in the middle of the city. The surroundings were lively and buzzing. Highly recommended if you would like to pamper yourselves a bit.
I checked in tonight and at reception asked the person at reception, Stanley if they had my Marriot Bonvoy details. They confirmed they didn’t so I provided my number by writing it on the check in document. Not once did the person check this whereas the Westin in Brisbane the night before did.nIt was late and tried to order a meal from the late night menu only to find that I was unable to order a drink. I then tried calling in room dining service and my call wasn’t answered. I then dialled concierge and this call too remain unanswered. I then had to get dressed and went down to reception desk seeking help with my order. I was assisted by Bella who placed the order for me downstairs. I went back to my room and waited. Eventually dinner arrived only to find out my side order of chillies wasn’t included nor my the drink I ordered to accompany my meal. I asked when this will be brought to the room to be told maybe in 10minutes. My food was getting cold and I stated eating my dinner without my drink order and side order of chillies. After my meal was done approximately 15 minutes later I received a knock on the door where the person brought my drink and chillies. Too late to enjoy with my food. A horrible dining experience. I complained to the person who offered to check my phone and they also couldn’t reach anyone when trying to call it. I asked to have the duty manager come see me so I may raise this with them. When the duty Manager Bella arrived she apologised and explained that the shift handover wasn’t done thoroughly which was why the phone didn’t work and I was unable to reach anyone. She offered to waive the dinner charge and asked what else could be done to ensure the rest of my stay was enjoyable upon which I simply didn’t have an answer. I was tired, dissatisfied and unhappy. About my experience. This is not what O expect from a Marriot Bonvoy affiliate hotel such as the Westin. I sincere hope no one else experiences such a terrible experience.
What a great hotel! We stayed for four nights over the Anzac Day weekend in a deluxe king room with the Juliet balcony opening onto Collins Street. The pros were many - good sized room with ample wardrobe space, super comfortable bedding and pillows, large well appointed bathroom with all my favourite practicalities like retractable clothes line over the bath, a decent sized shelf in the roomy shower, hand held shower head AND rainfall shower, cold fridge, plenty of room on the vanity.nThe biggest plus to this hotel apart from the genuinely helpful and gracious staff, was the location - it was a godsend for my feet - normally we stay over the Southbank side and it was just wonderful to be so close to the shops and trams and restaurants.nIn fact it was the first time we used the public transport. And it’s quite easy to jump on and off.nWe used the fantastic indoor heated pool at least once a day - it was very big and had a spa, sauna and steam room too - which we also took advantage of and felt much better for it.nOnly a couple of suggestions for minor improvements - the room had very minimal lighting and charging ports didn’t work.nIt was a bit noisy but I didn’t care - it didn’t interrupt my sleep and added to the atmosphere of a busy, vibrant city over what was a very big weekend with the Anzac Day parade plus the AFL games. Near the hotel we had two poor meals and two good meals - for Asian food I recommend Rice, Paper Scissors in Hardware Lane and for a steak or ribs, Rare in Little Collins Street.nOver the years we have tried quite a few of the restaurants on the hotel’s recommended list and don’t agree with many of them. But as the lovely fellow at the concierge said, it’s a very subjective experience.nThe buffet breakfast was certainly more than adequate but in our opinion the eggs station let down the high standards as the cooked to order omelettes and poached eggs were made with a heavy hand. I communicated this directly with the hotel and have already received a very thoughtful and genuine response.nWe used the valet parking but didn’t take our car out once!nAll in all I would definitely recommend the Westin and stay here again.
Brilliant service from every single person we encountered, they could not do more for you. Rooms were large and of a high standard. Lobby bar is fantatsic and pricing throughout the hotel is suprisingly reasonable. It's refreshing to experience a true five star hotel rather than many of the five star hotels that have the rating but not the true service.
This place was amazing. We were right in the centre of Melbourne. A short walk to most things and trams right outside and the train station a 2 minute walk if you needed to go further out.nThe room was large and comfortable. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Our room had a bath in it which was so nice to relax in.nWe had breakfast included and that was also perfect. There was so much to choose from. We ordered omelettes which were super fluffy with the perfect balance of toppings. We tried all the hot options which were also delicious. Then we had some of the food from the cereal area as there was stuff we had never tried.nThey have a Pho station and breads, pastries and donuts. There is also an area with vegetables and other things to put on the toast. But we didn't try any if that as we were too full.nThe staff were all lovely and our view was wonderful.nIt's not cheap to stay there but if you cn afford it or you are wnting to splurge fir a special occasion I'd definitely recommend it.
