I am deeply disappointed and frustrated by the abysmal check-in experience my partner and I encountered last night May 22nd at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. Despite its prime location, the front office staff's dismissive and outright rude demeanor ruined our entire stay from the very first minute.nnWhen we arrived to check in last night, the front desk agent claimed they could not locate our reservation in their system. They blamed this on a system upgrade that apparently took place between the night of the 18th and 19th. It makes absolutely no sense why a system upgrade that concluded days ago would cause our record to vanish on the 22nd.nnThroughout this entire process, the agent spoke to us with extreme impatience, accompanied by condescending facial expressions. Their tone made it feel as if we were the ones creating trouble for them, treating us with a palpable vibe of being completely unwelcome.nnThe entire experience was deeply unpleasant and insulting. It feels as though this hotel practices rampant favoritism—unless you walk in dressed to the nines, looking like a high-rolling elite, the front desk staff will look down on you with pure snobbery and treat you like a second-class citizen.nnI strongly advise travelers to avoid this hotel. No matter how good the location is, no one deserves to pay premium Grand Hyatt prices just to be subjected to such arrogant and disrespectful treatment. Management urgently needs to retrain their front office team on basic hospitality and human decency.
Grand Hyatt MelbournennA reliable choice.nnAn excellent option in a truly strategic location, right between Collins Street and Russell Street — perfect for getting around the city with ease.nnA dependable property, with professional and very friendly staff, fully in line with the brand’s standards.nnThe on-site restaurant is very good — a real convenience, especially when traveling with a child. The warm welcome and attentive service were especially appreciated.nnThe city-view room was of a good size, though not particularly well organized for luggage no dedicated storage space at all. Unfortunately, carpet is present, as is often the case.nnTip: if traveling with multiple suitcases, it’s worth opting for a higher room category.nnOverall, an excellent and reliable hotel that does not disappoint.
I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne on Collins Street and had an excellent experience from start to finish.nnFrom the moment you walk into the hotel you’re greeted by a grand, spacious and Impressively maintained foyer that immediately sets the tone. It feels premium yet welcoming, and the cleanliness and presentation throughout the public areas are faultless.nnThe staff truly stood out during my stay. Every interaction was met with genuine friendliness and professionalism, whether at reception, in the lobby, or throughout the hotel. The service felt polished without being stiff, and it made the entire stay feel easy and enjoyable.nnThe location is another major highlight. Positioned right on Collins Street, the hotel sits in the heart of Melbourne’s business and shopping districts. It’s convenient for both work and leisure, with shops, cafés, restaurants and transport all within easy walking distance.nnThe room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The bed was super comfortable and provided a great night’s sleep, and the bathroom was equally impressive, featuring both a strong shower and a proper bath which for me is quite important.nnBreakfast was consistently very good, with a great range and quality that set you up well for the day. Room service was also excellent, both in terms of speed and food quality. A special mention goes to the Club Sandwich, which was genuinely one of the better hotel versions I’ve had… fresh, generous, and very satisfying.nnThe lobby restaurant is a fantastic space to enjoy a coffee or a meal, whether you’re alone, meeting a friend, or having a casual business discussion.nnOverall, the Grand Hyatt Melbourne delivers outstanding service, comfort, and location, and I would happily stay here again or recommend it to others without hesitation.
My wife and I had an amazing stay at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Melbourne.nnThe room was amazing. Great city view on looked by the large king bed. The bathroom was epic with a big bath and a very classy feel with dark tones from the tiles.nnThe staff were very polite and super helpful and the club lounge did not disappoint. The food was amazing and offered awesome views all round.nnWe will definitely be coming back.
The hotel is a bit dated but the stay plus the kitchen on the ground floor buffet on certain days makes for quite a pleasant stay. I personally feel that rooms wise, Park Hyatt is still superior, but for a normal stay this isn't a bad option.
