Flinders Station Hotel Backpackers is located in the heart of the CBD of Melbourne. Staying with us will have you living amongst Melbourne’s funky café and shopping district while only been a few minutes walk away from Flinders Station, South Bank, and Federation Square.

It’s the perfect location for every traveller!

We offer great value accommodation rates with 2, 3 and 4 bed dormitory rooms, Twin and Doubles rooms all with shared bathroom facilities. Free breakfast is included every morning.

All guests have 24-hour access to the hostel and there are no curfews.

Our rooms: Every dorm room has individual security lockers, fan, secure card entry, linen, pillows and blankets provided. Towels are also available for hire.

Our property: is complete with a TV room, Free pool table, Free ping pong table, large common area and fully equipped kitchen with walk-in cool room. We also have an Internet kiosk with wireless Internet, mail, faxing and printing services as well as washing, drying and ironing facilities.

All guests must be over the age of 18yrs.

I loved it!nI think it’s my favorite hostel in Australia. We stayed in a private room for two people and it had the perfect setup: a desk to work, fans, a heater, and a safe. The beds had curtains for privacy, as well as power outlets and a light next to the bed. The common areas are amazing and comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook. They also always have tea, coffee, sugar, oil, and salt available, which I deeply appreciate.nnThe atmosphere is great too. I wasn’t really in the mood to be social haha, but everything looked fun. They have a terrace on one of the upper floors and it also has a café with very good prices. I highly recommend it and I would come back. I wish I had found this kind of hostel in Sydney :cnnI liked everything, but if there is something they could improve, it would be the stability of the shower water temperature. I don’t know what happens, but it keeps changing all the time, which was quite annoying, especially when you want to wash your hair.
I have absolutely nothing but amazing things to say about this hostel. My friends and I booked a three bed dorm and luckily got put on the 10 floor one of the floors that had bathrooms since not all floors have one & it put us one floor down from the cafe/rooftop. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms were clean - we actually saw the housekeepers cleaning them every morning and were amazed at how meticulous and efficient they are.nnI love the band system and I love that you needed the band to get in everywhere - bathrooms included. Felt extra secure and safe.nnCafe was cute and affordable. Such a lovely space and two of my friends were working remotely so it worked out really well for them.nnStaff were very friendly and the check in and check out process were smooth and easy. Great central location.nnThe only “negative” things I have to say are that the elevator took ages. Two elevators for 11 floors is a pain. The shower water pressure & temp were also kind of bad. The water will just change from hot to cold to warm to cold to hot and the water will cut out multiple times. The water pressure also messed with the toilets flushing as well - I’d have to stand there and hold down for a solid minute but anything would flush, even if it was one piece of tissue.
Extremely poor experience.nI was asked to leave the hostel abruptly, without a clear explanation and without being given any meaningful opportunity to respond. The decision appeared arbitrary and was handled without transparency or basic procedural fairness.nStaff conduct was unacceptable. Communication was minimal, dismissive, and at times openly rude. There was no attempt to de-escalate the situation or manage it in a calm and professional manner.nThe behavior of the security staff was particularly concerning. The approach was unnecessarily forceful and intimidating, creating an environment that felt uncomfortable rather than safe.nOverall, this reflects a serious lack of professionalism, poor conflict management, and inadequate respect for guests. The way situations are handled here raises significant concerns about standards and accountability.nI would not recommend this hostel to anyone expecting fair treatment, clear communication, or a respectful environment.
I really like this hostel, it’s my new go-to when I’m visiting Melbourne. The staff are super nice, 24/7 reception, the rooms & facilities are always clean, there’s privacy curtains & comfy beds, well organised and it’s in a such a central location for a good price. My only complaint is the elevators can take forever but worst case scenario you are on the 8th floor and have to wait a bit or just walk up
I twisted my ankle and couldn’t get on the top bed in the room I booked 4 ppl dorm so they moved me to 18!!! Ppl dorm, the people at the reception wasn’t very nice, when I wanted to extend my stay they told me I will have to check out at 10 and check in again in 14 even though they have empty spots. The guy at the reception wasn’t rude, the rooms and bathrooms are dirty also.
