Great value for money, lovely staff, fantastic location! The on-site restaurant was lovely, I only took 1 picture of our pizza, I enjoyed the hot breakfast in the morning, it had a large selection of breakfast foods. Our room was clean and suited our needs perfectly. Check in & checkout was simple and efficient. Will definitely book again if I'm heading to Melbourne.
We stayed for one night while attending a concert and the location was fantastic super convenient to the stadium and close to the train station, which made everything really easy. The room itself was basic but clean and reflected the price we paid. Staff were quick and easy to deal with, which we appreciated.nnUnfortunately, there was an issue with the air conditioning leaking. A bath mat was placed at the door to catch the water, but we weren’t notified beforehand, so we opened the door to a wet bath mat and a wet floor sign, which was a bit surprising. The leak appeared to run from the first floor down to the ground floor. Also, if the aircon wasn’t running, the room became extremely stuffy.nnOverall, it was fine for a short, convenient stay, but the maintenance issue and lack of communication around it did impact the experience.
This hotel does what it does superbly. It's in a convenient location and is run efficiently. The room I stayed in wasn't luxurious, but it was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for the night and morning. If I were looking for a sumptuous experience, I may stay elsewhere, but I needed an overnight in Melbourne, and I'm glad I found The Great Southern Hotel.
We loved our stay here while visiting Melbourne for the Australian Open.nnChecking in and out was easy. Staff were always very welcoming and friendly.nnHousekeeping were excellent! Friendly, kind and no request was too much.nnOur room was much bigger than we expected. Fit us 2A+2C and our luggage without feeling cramped. The ensuite was huge with a shower and bath. Water pressure was excellent. Beds were comfy. Very quiet at night even being on such a busy street and the blinds were blackout.nnLocation is unbeatable. So close to Southern Cross Station which will take you absolutely anywhere.nnWe were unsure about parking in the city so prebooked with the Value parking lot at the airport and took the Skybus into the city. Very easy.nnWe’re looking forward to staying here again for our next trip! Thank you Great Southern Hotel!
Room was great , it was clean, tv was no hassle to get onto apps, aircon was good, shower was fantastic.nStaff were friendly as, we left our luggage there after checkout while we toured Melb waiting for our train.nFantastic experience, I’ve stayed at the Best Western nearby and Great Southern beats them hands down.nGo Daisy you rock!nProximity to CBD and venues fabulous .
