The Great Southern Hotel

I forgot my passport at the hotel and only realized once I got to the airport. The front desk person was extremely helpful. He got it for me, sent it to the airport in a taxi and I made to the gate perfectly on time! The desk attendant was Greg! Thanks mate for the amazing service!

This was a reasonably affordable place for us to stay in the city as we had a wedding reception with a wedding breakfast following the next day. The rooms were nothing fancy, I just got a standard room, it was good for what I needed it for. The staff at the desk were a bit confused with my booking, I booked 2 rooms for 2 couples and they couldn't find the name but eventually they did. I wasn't aware of having to pay a bond on arrival though so that could be more clearly advertised as I had already paid for the room prior.

Close to southern cross station, can walk it if minimal luggage. Airport shuttle runs to station as well. Great little pizza shop just feet away very close also celebrations can by drinks there, China town many restaurants. Can't fall it for budget and location. 1 fault the central air con may not cut it on hot Melbourne summer day, there is a nice bath you could dip in👍

Very close to Southern Cross station and trams. Also near supermarkets. Reception open 24/7- very convenient. Affordable price for its location. Although, central air con may not be enough for hot days.

Friendly staff, affordable options (stayed in family room). Good room service. Bed soft and can be uncomfortable depending what you're use to. Bathroom has no ventilation fan so mirror always fogs. Overall experience has been good and would recommend if anyone is looking to stay in the city of melbourne. The Southern Cross train station is a 2min walk which makes it a great location.
