A pleasant and conveniently located hotel just a short walk from Southern Cross Station, Melbourne's main transport hub and the primary arrival point for travelers coming from the airport via the SkyBus.nnThe reception area is bright, clean, and welcoming, blending touches of Victorian elegance with modern design elements. The overall atmosphere feels polished without being overly formal. The staff were consistently warm, accommodating, and helpful, making check-in and the rest of my stay smooth and hassle-free.nn**Last check-in:** June 24, 2026nnI stayed in **Room 128**, which was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bed was generously sized and provided a great night's sleep. The bathroom was also well-maintained, though I did notice a slight unpleasant odor whenever the bathroom lights or ventilation system were switched on. It wasn't a major issue, but it was noticeable.nnThe television was somewhat buggy during my stay, though it didn't significantly affect the overall experience.nnOverall, I had a very pleasant stay. With its excellent location, comfortable rooms, and friendly service, this hotel is a great choice for anyone looking for a convenient base while exploring Melbourne.
This is not a five star hotel in the traditional sense nor does it purport to be. However for its price point, it's fabulous location and what it offers it is seriously excellent value. I stayed twice overnight in the space of a week and was really impressed with the quality of the rooms, the cleanliness and the lovely staff who were really accommodating and friendly. Beds were nothing luxurious but totally adequate for what you're paying for.nnMy first stay was an inner king room and the only negative for me was that it was quite noisy, I could hear every footstep from the people above me and their phone conversation in great detail at 1am and people moving around outside quite late into the night. However the darkness of the room was amazing and I was surprised when I realised the time when I woke up the next morning because it remained so dark with the room door privacy screen closed.nnThe second time I was in a bigger room with a window and my stay was entirely silent, didn't hear a peep out of anyone. This room was spacious and had a pleasant view out to the street and included a bathtub and microwave. So it may be pot luck with room assignment your experience and even despite the noise on the first occasion I didn't hesitate to stay again and am so glad I did!nnI'll definitely be returning as this find has opened up my ability to be able to comfortably afford to visit the city more often from regional Victoria ustilising public transport.
Overall pretty good for the price and location but not without its issues.nWhole room buzzes with a white type noise when air-conditioner is on not the aircon unit itself.nYou can hear every footstep from the room above.nOur access card was deactivated twice even though we paid for extended checkout.nBut rooms are adequate and clean, breakfast is good value and the location is excellent and we would stay again.
I booked this hotel for an overnight stay. It was near the Southern Cross railway station for the sky bus the next day to the airport. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The check in and check out was efficient and personable. There is a restaurant down stairs for dinner and an all you can eat AUD $18 breakfast. It represented as good value, which made it a convenient start to the day.
I was holidaying with my teenager and we got a family room for more space and paid in full via trip.com flight+Hotel. I also made sure to write in directly to the hotel to cfm the booking since I was using a 3rd party app.nnWhen I arrived late Sunday night, I was told that we could not be checked in as the booking was made in my teenager's name and a minor. Trip.com seems to frequently have an issue with this. I pointed out the fact that we were the same 2ppl on the booking, all the information was made available and also I made the effort to write in prior and this was not flagged earlier. Guy just shrugged his shoulders and asked me to get it sorted with whoever.nnIt sounded just administrative to me but I attempted to do so anyway while being stranded. My attempts to rectify the records were to no avail late on a Sunday night. At this point, a form was offered me to swap the names around as an exception. Whilst grateful for the resolution, I am still wondering why this could not be the clear quick resolution in the first place. What am I missing?nnWe could've avoided the panic and jumping over the many hoops and it really does still seem like a minor paperwork issue.nnThat aside, the room was cosy and comfortable. Clean, location great esp for airport transfers and day tours and getting around in general. No complaints otherwise.
