We got a great deal on a large suite which had everything we needed, including a washer/dryer combo which was really handy. The staff were attentive and even brought me a smaller pillow when I asked. Beds are comfy if you like them soft I’m a bit Goldilocks and prefer mine firmer.nnThe main letdown was the leisure amenities. I was really looking forward to using the rooftop pool, but it was tiny and there’s no sauna. It’s a bit disappointing for such a large, busy hotel. Rival hotels nearby offer more in that area, and given Melbourne’s unpredictable weather, it would’ve been nice to have somewhere relaxing to hang out other than the room.nnOur room was clean, though the glasses tasted faintly of cleaning spray. Room service was average 5/10. The kids pasta was bland, especially for nearly $20. Breakfast had a few hits and misses: lemon pancakes were lovely, but the chocolate croissants were dry and quite bitter. The bar also wasn’t our favourite, with a limited selection, pricey drinks, and not a particularly warm vibe.nnAll up, a comfortable stay and great location, but with a few tweaks, especially to the leisure facilities and food, it could be much better.
I stayed at this hotel for three nights, and my overall experience was rather disappointing.nnThe hotel boasts a great location, pleasant surroundings and well-kept facilities that are all up to a high standard. Regrettably, its service is simply not worthy of its premium prices.nnWhen I booked the room, the promotional pictures showed one view, but the actual scenery outside the window was totally different. I called the front desk to request a room with a better view, yet I was told all rooms had similar views.nnIn addition, basic necessities like slippers were not provided in the room, and I had to call staff to get them. My original check-out time was 11 a.m. I phoned to ask if I could check out at 12 p.m. instead, but I was refused straight away, as they said they had upcoming reservations. I have never encountered such an inflexible rule in other hotels before.nnWhat’s more, the front desk phones were often unanswered, and the elevators operated very slowly.nnIt is such a pity that this hotel offers first-class surroundings and charges high prices, while its service quality falls far short of expectations.
Had a great weekend staycay at the Rydges for our anniversary! The room was chic and clean, comfortable and had a great view We had the Deluxe Corner King for reference. We also loved the bathroom set up which made it feel palacial despite being small. Staff were super friendly and the hotel is well priced and positioned for a stay in Melbourne. One piece of feedback would be on the late night chicken toastie situation, which despite being a nice touch, was essentially 22 dollars for hot bread and avocado and included a tray fee for a non-existent tray.
Rydges Melbourne was amazing.nnService was exceptional, and the manager personally welcomed my Mum and I. His thoughtful gesture of providing us with a complimentary coffee immediately set a warm and accommodating tone.nnThe room itself was impeccably clean and tidy, providing a comfortable atmosphere for our stay. Such outstanding service and quality.nnHighly recommend.
First time staying since the renovations a few years ago. Our room was lovely. Bed was very soft and comfortable. The room got hot overnight, as we turned off the air con. We got upgraded, as we're EVT members. Very nice offer. Had to ask for our complimentary drink as EVT members, though, which was a bit disappointing. Great location right next to Chinatown, theatres, pubs and public transport. The bar, Bossleys, was seriously understaffed, which was a shame. Hon as an EVT member, as there are great offers! Unbeatable room rate for our stay, compared to other hotels, and just as nice, even if the pool is outdoors rooftop.
