Aesthetics at its finest. The ambiance in the room and the building was fantastic. Stayed in the petite room for two nights and as the name suggested it was small but more than enough room for a two night stay. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. The place was in a great location with easy access to public transport. The only downside was that the room temperature was centralised and could not be controlled from the room however, there was a heater available in the room. Parking was limited as well so i would make sure to book it along with the booking.
I stayed here for a week and even that wasn't long enough. I LOVE this place and recommend it to anyone staying in Auckland. The architecture, decor and atmosphere is top notch. The staff were always so kind and accommodating. Close to Ponsonby which has great shops and restaurants. Also 10 minute walk from Grey Lynn park. I loved that this place was a good distance from downtown. So a more quiet, chill atmosphere. The lounge and restaurant within the hotel are also great as well.
The hotel underwent a stunning renovation which beautifully restored the building's charm. The rooms are tastefully decorated, albeit quite small. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by disappointing staff, particularly at the front desk. Despite my efforts to greet them, they often ignored me. It seems the restaurant is prioritized over hotel guests, as noise levels were disregarded, making it feel more like a bar/restaurant with lodging as an afterthought. Overall, while the aesthetics of the hotel are commendable, the lack of consideration for hotel guests' comfort and the indifferent staff demeanor detracted significantly from the experience.
Loved it. Amazing room in an equally amazing building. Staff was great and the room was cleaned to perfection every day we were there. A little outside the main downtown area but that was exactly what we were looking for and it is still close enough that everything you will want to see is still easily accessible. Oh, and there's a bus stop right out front if you're using transit to get around the city. Be sure to book a table at the restaurant, Ada, during your stay. It's very popular and once you try it you will understand why. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay and would recommend The Convent Hotel wholeheartedly.
Absolutely had the time of my life . It was the most wonderful place on Earth . Incredible decor just magical . We dined at Ada which was exquisite and certainly one of the finest restaurant experiences I have ever had . The whole place was just stunning from the minute I pulled up in front of the beautiful facade . I adored the marble basins and extraordinary tapware and the style was magnificent. Can't wait to be back !!!
Absolutely loved the decor, uniqueness and history of this small hotel. Wonderful warm welcome from reception was a great start. I stayed in one of the Nuns Repose rooms upstairs, room 11. It's cozy but big enough for one with a small bag. The decor fit beautifully with the rest of the hotel and nods to the convent. The balcony was large and had outdoor curtains to prevent the apartment right next door from looking in. Bed was comfy and loved the free little mini bar. Noise was OK, you can hear creaking and doors closing but I guess that's what cones with an old renovated building. It would have been five stars except you can't control the room temperature yourself so I was sweltering one night then ice cold the next. Parking was also a bit annoying. You must book in advance as the restaurant staff use a lot of it as do rest guests. Rooms: Aim for upstairs as downstairs was super noisy
This hotel is a beautiful renovation of an impressive building. The mix of modern irreverance and historic materials makes it a unique and very charming place to stay. We loved our stay in a nuns repose room. The balcony/patio and tile work made for wonderful indoor and outdoor living. This is one of my all time favorite hotel stays.Rooms: 5/5
This very pretty hotel is located in the Grey Lynn area of Auckland. We enjoyed the attention to detail and the fun whimsical artwork. We stayed 1 night in room 18 which is a little small but very quiet. Finding a outlet to make a morning coffee was a little challenging. However would recommend The Convent for a romantic getaway. Due to a flight cancellation we needed another nights stay and Sarah who was working the reception area that morning found us a room which relieved alot of stress. We were placed in Room 2 which is a large room and very cozy. Unfortunately the noise from the bar, the restaurant and just guests and staff coming and going was not conducive to a good night's sleep. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel but stay upstairs and bring minimal luggage. We walked to Ponsonby which was super fun.
This place is a hidden gem. The building has stories. The aesthetics are beautiful the rooms are clean, free snacks are always a hit and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Rooms: 5/5
Amazing building, wonderful rooms, extremely friendly staff, super clean, pleasant walk to Ponsonby shops & restaurants. We had a great time and plan to return. It was lovely just to chill in our room! Don’t miss out on the restaurant downstairs, it’s pretty special.Rooms: 5/5
