Do NOT use this car company!!  I reserved a mini-van several months in advance for a 2 week family trip (4 kids) in NZ over Christmas.  Our international flight was delayed due to weather and we arrived 6 hours late.  Upon arrival I contacted the company and was informed that my car was rented to someone else because I arrived after a 2 hour window.  The 2 hour pick-up window was not stated anywhere on the reservation or the pick-up instructions.  I was informed that the 2 hour window term was contained in a link on the email in the Terms and Conditions (which no one ever reads!!).  

To our luck an other reservation was cancelled and we were able to leave with the car we had reserved.  I will compliment the agent at the Auckland office.  He was polite and found us a car.  

I understand that mini-vans are in high demand at this time and people often cancel their reservations.  My issue was that I was not clearly informed of a 2 hour pick-up window (it took over an hour to clear customs alone).  Stating that it was in an email line to the terms and conditions is poor business practices.  If I had been properly informed I would have paid in advance or attempted to call before departing to inform them of the delay.

This can be simply resolved by clearly stating during the reservation process or pick-up instructions.

Just got the car back after two weeks of travelling. Had a Nissan Tiida that did a great job with helping me exploring the north island! 
Scotties are great, very friendly and helpful! 
Corry is the best, helped me with everything I needed from day 1!! :)

This company is a scam, DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THEM, otherwise, you will be out of pocket. Please read all other reviews too. The worst possible experience. Been trying to sort our with Scotties from over a month, they started Hanging up the calls now.  We are going to take legal action against the company now And encourage others to do that too.

My experience was Bad from the start.

Price was very high.

They didn't have the SUV I had booked.

They tried to fit my family of five with 10days luggage, car chairs, pushchair and surfboards into a sedan that I couldn't fit 2 standard travel cases in.

eventually, they gave me a minivan that fitted us in, however, it was a rather old, used Japanese import that had no English on the satnav or radio and was quite grimy inside.

When I went to fill it with fuel, I noticed that the oil cap was off from the tappit cover, I checked the oil and it was dry, I then had to fill the engine with oil, this could of lead to serious problems while driving to our holiday destination.

The whole experience with Scotties hire from the start was pretty dismal. I will not recommend using them

Do Not waste your time and money here. Worst possible experience.  They try their best to rip you off. Prior damaged cars will be blaimed on you and you will be out of pocket with Thousands.  We will soon upload the court proceedings details here too.
