DONT TAKE THE TAXI SERVICE - used Enterprise/Alamo for a day trip.  Was quoted $35 for a taxi back, however the driver actually charged $45.  Use Uber instead and get an honest fair.

I was impressed with the customer service here and the shuttle bus driver’s to/from the airport were super friendly and engaging. Got some great tips when I arrived about navigating Auckland. The check-in process took a bit, but it was because of the thorough inspection of
the vehicle, which I appreciated. I got a great weekly rate on my little car
and it had good gas-economy along w/really nice features (included a back-up camera imbedded in the rear-view mirror!). It handled great and was even comfortable for sleeping in (the one time I had to make it my impromptu hotel for the night). The return process was pretty quick as well. 

This location is off-airport and can be a bit of toughie to find if you don’t have GPS.

The Enterprise rental car location is no longer at the stated Rennie Street address. It is now located inside the park and ride lot of the airport.  Even the website of Enterprise stills shows the old address. We wasted time going to the old address.  I complained about it. Two weeks later nothing was changed about the address. If you go to the rental office from the airport you can just take the free shuttle. For people who goes there by themselves the address was misleading. 

The rental company tried to get me to buy collision damage waiver. Declining it means having a liability of 2500 NZD plus tax right away if there is any kind of damage to the car.

Also after we picked up our car we were given a ticket to get out of the parking lot. When we got to the gate, the machine ate our ticket but asked us to pay 16NZD for the door to open. This was not explained to me before we drove off. This was plainly a ripoff.

Very good experience with Enterprise. There was some initial confusion when I made the web booking as they never emailed a confirmation after my on-line booking (I don't know why they don't do this as standard practice), but this was sorted out well by customer service. Upon arrival at Auckland, I had to figure out by myself by asking airport staff that we had to call them to come get us (thankfully, we had obtained a NZ SIM card at the airport) and they came quickly in a van to pick us up. I want to say that Catherine was amazing at our check-in, and made extra efforts to ensure that we were well settled in to our vehicle before we departed - many thanks to her. The return of the car also went very smoothly.

Located 15 minutes away from airport, 5 other companies are located at arrivals.  Shuttles both ways are infrequent, and have capacity for only 4 passengers so you'll wait 30 minutes or more.  Scrape on a rim was "routine, and not noted" on pickup, big deal on arrival.  Glad I had the $0 deductible.  Crew are otherwise friendly and competent.
