It has been 20 years, or more, since we stayed at the Brassey but we thought that we'd give it another try. We come to Canberra every couple of years and have been staying at another heritage hotel locally. We had fond memories of our previous stays here.nThe rooms are clean and tidy and comfortable. They are starting to need a refresh with paint coming off the skirting boards in places and sundry scuff marks around the walls. There were holes in the curtains from wear but we couldn't work out how they happened.nThere are no food and drink restaurant, bar or cafe facilities on site. The website lists 5 or 6 depending on whether you are on a mobile or desktop website, that are listed as being in the Realm precinct but more searching is required to find what, and where, this precinct is. All well and good except for Sunday night when there is nothing open or if you want breakfast in your hotel; not an option.nIn short, the Brassey still has that heritage charm but is certainly not what it once was.
Had a great stay, the grab and go room is a great idea - there's a shared spot with the usual minibar selection plus a microwave and hot/cold filtered water. Still have a minifridge in the room so it was overall very well appointed. It was pretty quiet when I stayed so no problems with noise, may be different at peak times. Service was always excellent, nothing was an issue. The building is charming and just what I was after!
This hotel was actually super cool, its charm is beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. 3 restaurants and bars within about 25mtrs. The fact it didn’t have a lift or restaurant played in its charm and quirkiness. Lovely old heritage hotel and we got to stay in the best room in the house for our 20yr anniversary! They even gifted us a free bottle of wine.nWill definitely stay again, thanks brassey!
Very beautiful hotel with a luxurious feel and is located near the Parliament houses, art galleries, museums etc. It was so convenient to travel back and forth from those places. Brassey hotel is just so stunning, the gardens are so well kept. All the receptionist and staff are lovely. The rooms are spacious and clean. Hotel guests get free parking too which is so great! Will definitely be coming back.
Prosn- free coffee machine coffee is excellent and the no room service credit got me some free banana bread toon- nice outdoors area, plenty of balcony and seating around hotel to enjoyn- room is bigger and better furnished than in the photos although I think that maybe each room is a bit different. My one had a bonus side roomn- ample parkingn- room insulation is great and also air conn- bed, bathroom is clean enough and comfortable enough.n- one receptionist, a man from Nepal i think his name was bindaya or something, was exceptionally nice and friendly. The others kept changing and were okn- so close to attractionsnnConsnn- stairs may bother some people but I expected itn- housekeeping missed cleaning the inside of the sinkn- the style is a bit old which i found quaint but in the bathroom, some black marks on the bathtub i think are left from age which maybe means the bathtub should be replaced. Still worked fine though and it was clean...n- I couldn't find the fountain as per the photos maybe it was at the spa
