I struggled and fought immensely for 12-13 years to conceive and become a mother. And I did became pregnant with twins and my dream of becoming a mother became reality thanks to Dr Simon Kelly and his team. I have been to all other competitors clinics in Auckland Repromed, Fertility Plus but Fertility Associates staff are cut above the rest for sure in knowledge, expertise and up to date equipment. In my opinion they are the best in NZ. Highly recommend getting embryo glue and time lapse incubator. Our only issues we had was accounts team- open your eyes when dealing with them, they feel no obligation to provide you information on cost options and updates of costs.
Do not go here if you are a man seeking TRT!! Or want to be treated like an adult. I saw Dr Maritza Farrant and I was treated with suspicion, even though I had done my research and had data to back up my conclusion - that I met the criteria for primary Hypogonadism. Because I went to the gym regularly I was asked leading questions as if I was a gym bro looking to get on steroids. I also wasn’t trusted when I said I didn’t want any more children. And yes, I assured her I had talked to my partner about it! IMO, they seem to have an extreme bias towards being pro-fertility and not wanting to make decisions that will impact someone’s fertility even though the patient has good reasoning. Ie quality of life vs maybe not being able to have more children. This appointment cost me $533 and I emailed asking if I could go for a blood test before the appointment and was told not to but then all they did was order blood tests and ask for a follow-up. I didn’t go back, I found somewhere that would treat me fairly and that’s only $175 per appointment - I am now on fully funded TRT. Because of the delay that FAA caused, my symptoms did get worse, however, so I lived through 6+ months of low mood etc because of these guys! Go somewhere else.
My experience with Fertility Associates began back in 2017, with Dr Milsom as my endocrinologist. Due to being single and my age creeping up she suggested I go on the sperm donor waiting list, as it doesn't hurt to have options.nnI started having issues when i was 12 so needing help was not a surprise it was more expected. Dr Pillay was first my gynecologist before the fertility treatment, so I was very comfortable with him, he has always been honest caring and calm.nIVF is a commitment emotionally financially and of your time, as I did not live in Auckland I had to do a lot of travelling. I was well aware that IVF in general is no sure thing and add my age into the equation the odds were not great. My decision to proceed was not wanting to look back in 10 years and wish I didn't at least try.nnCovid and Auckland lock down slowed proceedings but eventually we were able to proceed, as covid restrictions meant doctors were not always able to be in theatre as they usually would, Dr Pillay made sure, when possible, he was able to do my procedures as there was considerable pain involved in my situation. I am very appreciative of this.nnAfter a miscarriage he was very considerate in giving me the time I needed, we discussed what had happened then what the next steps were, and he took great care of me with surgery.nCounselling was offered but I did not feel as though I needed it.nn4 more embryo transfers later I now have an 8-week-old daughternThank you to Sunil, Dr Milsom the nurses who would answer any questions, the sperm donor coordinator and the donors who give people like me an opportunity that I otherwise would not have.nnIVF is not perfect, the outcomes can be fantastic, but it can also be desperately unfair.nWhy it worked for me and not others will probably never be known, but you can only try, and I am grateful for the help and guidance I have received.nnG
I have been lucky enough to be under the care of Dr Sunil Pillay for 3 rounds of IVF. It wasn't an easy journey but i am so glad we had Dr Sunil for our doctor, he is incredibly kind and caring. He goes above and beyond for his patients. Both myself and my husband trusted him completely. I truely feel he is one of the best doctors I have ever come across. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering fertility treatment.nnI also saw Dr Amelia for one of my procedures and she was very kind and compassionate and I felt safe with her.nnI would also like to thank the lovely nurses and theatre team who looked after me during my procedures. All the nurses were very professional, kind and knowledgeable.nnI was also very impressed with the reception/admin team, all the receptionists were warm and welcoming. The team answering the phones were always really helpful to deal with.Scheduling appointments and sorting out payments was easy and stress free.
We started off with a consultation for public funding and having found I had a blocked tube, it just felt like I was being palmed off. The initial consultation was so promising but then BAM the chances of me being a successful IVF patient to them went to crap. Which meant they then just said I'd be put on a long waiting list. It went from having a 6 month waiting period to 18 months, which is fine. But it was the tone of how it was handled, I felt useless as a viable candidate. There was really close to zero communication with regards to this. I would have appreciated a little more info as to what I could do to help my case. Instead, I felt I was a lost cause. People that come to you are already feeling useless as they can't just MAKE a baby like everyone else, so why treat them like this? They had booked me in to see them to tell me that I'd be put on a long wait list whilst they were consulting with someone else and gave me that booking for free out of pity we were willing to pay. Thanks for being insensitive.
