You book online and the car pickup process is simple and fast. The drop off was quick too. They do have a charge or deposit that you get refunded when you return the car undamaged which isn’t anywhere on the site but probably is hiding in the small print. A bit inconvenient to carry that charge on your credit card during your whole vacation, but I get it.

I was assigned a Mustang Mach-e, a new car that I drove only 750 km for 10 days in a very refreshing mood. Unlike my worries, it was easy to charge in Oakland because it was an electric car. When I returned my car to the international airport early in the morning, I barely found the rent car drop point it because there was no sign saying 'Rent car drop' in the airport.

 Renting a car with Europcar was a breeze. Simply ensure that all particulars are accurately filled out on their website, a process that typically takes around 20 minutes.nnOnce your assigned car is ready, they provide you with a ticket to collect it from the rental venue.nnImportant to note: The rental venue is conveniently located at the same spot as the return venue. No need for additional transportation; it's just a pleasant 15 to 20-minute walk from the airport.nnThe cars are well-maintained, and they even give them a wash before collection, ensuring a top-notch experience.

We hired a Ford Ranger from Europcar for our NZ holiday.nWe really enjoyed driving all over New Zealand in it nWe even camped out in it under the stars nIt’s a 2023 V6 Wildtrak and it was powerful with excellent road handling and fuel economy  on diesel nOverall, we recommend Europcar for your next car hire in New Zealand.nnThe reasons for the loss of a star were these:nThey didn’t accept my Debit Mastercard as payment unless I put a pin on it. Solved immediately through my banking app but that was just dum.  Neither did the CSO have a suggestion to solve that nor was it advised in the email, their payment methods.nnThe directions to return the car were incorrect and we had to scrabble around Auckland Airport till we found the Rental Car Returns signage which was too late because by that time, we’d found the way innSo not set further out on the roads coming in so one knew where to go.nnAnd last, the Wildtrak shuts down every time you stop. At lights, Intersections, Drive thru. I don’t like that feature even tho the idea it saves on fuel is a good one.nnUltimately I’d probably own one of these. Worth it

Europcar experience was very good. Due to construction at the airport it was quite a walk with our luggage to pick the car up, not something Europcar could help. Excellent vehicle, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.
