We found it very difficult to find the office. You literally have to go INTO the airport terminal because their outside office also hard to spot was closed that is where Google maps and airport staff will direct you .nnThe customer service phoneline couldn't help.nnWasted a lot of time walking in circles.nnThe vehicle I rented couldn't be picked up from the International terminal despite being directed there by the website, I'd been dropped off, so I had to catch the bus to the domestic office.nnOne bright shining light here was the face to face customer service. The lovely, polite and friendly staff are a joy.nnCouldn't work the tail lift, called customer service who couldn't help.nnHad trouble returning it as well. Return time wasn't clear, so we were charged for an extra day and an extra hour, charged kilometers when they told me kms weren't included. We have since had the late fees reimbursed which we are grateful for.nnWhen I called customer service to tell them I had a complaint and needed a refund, they just told me they couldn't help, to call back during the week, when I asked for an email address I was told that there isn't one...nnWent back to the airport to talk to the decent staff who again were lovely and they gave me the email address.nnThere are two themes for me here.nnI have found Budget aka AVIS call centre to be largely a waste of time and the airport offices difficult to find.
Horrific and deceptive conduct - there is no way to get the pre-authorized amount released before 30 days. They send you in circles chasing the bank and you believe it's the banks fault, when in fact they request the for a maximum 30 day hold in the merchant code. They tell you they release it after the car is returned, and give you a code over the phone. It's been 25 days they've held onto the money for a 1 day hire including comprehensive insurance for 0 excess. To legally release the hold, they need to instruct the bank through a letter, which for unknown reasons they keep claiming its not the correct process, they are refusing to email as per bank instructions and they are only willing to send a fax. Save yourself the headache and go with snap rentals. My only regret was I didn't use them again as I had wanted to try out an electric vehicle in budget's fleet.
I'm going to share my very positive experience with Lois and Harpreet last night at Budget rentals Auckland Int'l airport. Also a bit weary as the transaction is still current so things may change but I'm hoping not. My last encounter with the team was also painless, other than the queuennI arrived on a flight that landed 0115h. I had previously called before booking and they said they might be able to hold on to 0130h, but I knew there was no way I'd be able to pick up by then so arranged to pick up 8am instead. As luck would have it, we made it through customs and I noticed these 2 ladies were closing up and thought I'd take my chances.nnLois immediately looked up my booking, found I'd pre-paid, the car was ready, efficiently checked all my documents, went through safety stuff, the usual sales spill etc all included while her colleague efficiently closed up around me.nnWithout the stress of having to wake early after a late flight, navigate Sunday transfers etc, they made my first day of my trip that much more pleasant.nnThank you ladies for going over and beyond. It is the little things that make the biggest difference
I am trying to contact Budget Rent A Car at Auckland Airport. An amount of AUD$150.75 was debited against my credit card on 13/4/24 when I picked up my rental car. I have no idea what it was for and has not been reinstated on my credit card, as no damage was sustained to the car. I want to be able to send an email requesting this information but only phone numbers are supplied in Contacts. Further, I returned the car to the Airport 1 day early & have not received a credit.
Our car rental went off without any problems. Our car was ready and pick up was quick. They emailed us pictures of the car and had us email back any additional problems they hadn’t already noted. The car was very clean and worked well. We had a Santa Fe Diesel - which was SO good on gas. We only filled up twice in 10 days, and we drove a LOT. We were impressed. Also a great vehicle for 4 adults and luggage. Return was equally easy. No problems, hidden fees, charges, pushy sales people or anything else to complain about. Price paid was exactly as booked. Rarely does a car rental go this smoothly for us. Really really appreciated that they didn’t try to upsell us in any way. A nice break from the typical car rental experience. Would use them again. Also appreciated that they are in the airport - though with the construction, the walk to terminal from drop off/pick up location is about 10 minutes.
