Mum is in hospital care and we are extremely happy with the facilities and level of service provided. Margaret and her team are always ready to help mum, with support extended to our family as well...and all done with patience, understanding and a friendly smile. The food is good restaurant quality, rooms are cleaned and laundry done daily. This is our first experience with a retirement village and it has certainly exceeded our expectations.
I recently visited Edmund Hillary Retirement Village in Auckland to view some apartments and inspect the hospital rooms for my mother. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.nnFirst, the apartments being sold as “new” are clearly not new. The furniture and carpet are second-hand, which is unacceptable considering they are charging over one million dollars for these units. I was shocked to see that such expensive apartments are not equipped with brand-new fittings.nnSecond, I had the chance to look at some of the hospital rooms, and sadly, they were in very poor condition — unpleasant odors and an overall lack of cleanliness. This raises serious concerns about the standard of care provided.nnThe pricing is extremely high for what is being offered, and based on what I saw, it is far from justifiable. Another thing that really stood out to me was the atmosphere among the staff. Many looked unhappy, and when I politely asked one person why they seemed upset, they admitted that things are not going well at the village and that staff are under a lot of pressure.nnOverall, this experience has led me to look at other options for my mother, as I cannot trust the quality and care standards here.
Hate the atmosphere in this place, delivered Meals on Wheels there once would dread going back....miles of sterile corridors horrible and I heard recently that they sent a dementia patient out of there, they claimed they couldn't handle him and sent him back to hospital....GOSH they have a dementia wing but not able to handle one difficult patient.....WOULD never buy a place there if it was offered to me on a platter...They are just in it for the money $1800 a week I might add for that Demented patient
We took our vintage cars there for static display and filling the wish of management to come back .In fundraising for daffodil day but was disappointing
Wonderful place. 5 star facilities and managed by people who care about people. Mum was here for a few years and being ocd these guys really looked after Mum very well! Highly recommended over and above other villages around Auckland.
