I was only visiting urban for the bar but stumbled across the travel desk. The Irish staff member there was amazingly helpful with zero feeling that I had to buy something. Extremely knowledgeable and willing to go way beyond expectations just to help me with my resume. The bar staff were just as pleasant and the bar area had a great relaxed feel with a great selection of drinks to accompany a game of pool and pinball or two! Will 100% be back!!!

This is a good hotel to start a trip in Australia. It is a bit expensive but the price match the quality. It is huge tho, do not expect a family like atmosphere. Priya, from the reception crew , is charming. And the receptionists in general are helpful and available. The kitchen is very nice and full of light; and they offer yummy free pa lakes every mornings.

Now that I'm a top five percent reviewer on Trip Advisor, I'll start with this warm up Google review. If a staff member is rude to me again, my next review will be on Trip Advisor as I get 30k views there. The male staff are OK however the female staff can be rude and condescending. I was told to vacate my room on Thurs as they were doing cleaning so I did. No communication that they had cancelled the cleaning and no need to check out. Wasted my time packing and checking out and I had an Irish female member be rude to me. She was also rude to me on a previous night by being condescending with her verbal tone. Pros - location and weekly price, bar and kitchen OK, lively bar even on a Sunday night, some staff friendly (male staff not female staff), discount at McDonalds across the road, football on the big screen, have items such as library, computers and hairdryers. Cons - some staff are rude and condescending, dirty bathrooms with black mould (the Indian cleaning lady cleaned the toilets and sinks and did not do the showers at all), hair in showers, food constantly stolen from fridges.

Urban central is a nice and cheap hostel. The kitchen and the toilets are cleaned everyday and are big enough. The staff is very friendly and it's good for a longer stay. The four bed dorms are large and everyone has an own locker in the room.

Sufficient common areas, kitchen, places to store food... Seems generally well maintained but carpet smells weird like most hostels. If you're looking for a quieter hostel to be at, this is it.
