I recently had the pleasure of staying at Crown Metropol Melbourne, with our group, it is located at 8 Whiteman Street in Southbank, right in the heart of the Crown Entertainment Complex. With approximately 650+ rooms, it is one of Australia's largest hotels and is perfectly positioned for both business and leisure travellers.nnThe hotel is directly connected to the enormous Crown precinct, which offers a casino, countless dining options, shopping outlets, gaming arcades, bowling, entertainment venues and much more, making it a destination in itself.nnOur group's check-in experience was exceptionally smooth as the room keys had been arranged in advance. A special mention must go to Mr. Simon, whose assistance and professionalism made the process even more seamless and stress-free.nnThe rooms were spacious, comfortable and thoughtfully designed. Personally, I appreciated the carpeted flooring, which added a warm and homely touch. The bathroom was bright, well-lit and equipped with all the amenities one would expect from a premium hotel. The beds were comfortable, and the overall room layout provided ample space to relax after a busy day of sightseeing.nnI would also like to acknowledge the housekeeping team. They often work behind the scenes and rarely receive the recognition they deserve. The efficiency with which they serviced and turned down rooms in such a large hotel is truly commendable.nnThe lobby deserves special praise as well. It is vast, elegant and inviting, with tasteful décor that is eye-catching without being excessive. The parking facilities are equally impressive, providing ample space and easy access for guests.nnBreakfast at Mr. Hive Kitchen & Bar was one of the highlights of our stay. The staff operated with remarkable precision and coordination, almost military-like in their efficiency while remaining warm and welcoming. I had the pleasure of interacting with several outstanding team members who truly elevated the experience: Ms. Marissa Hostess, Ms. Oakley Floor Staff, the ever-smiling and energetic Ms. Venus, the soft-spoken and courteous Ms. Clarice, and the gentle Mr. Patrick Walkers.nnFrom the moment guests arrived, they were warmly greeted and personally escorted to their tables, making breakfast feel like a special occasion every morning.nnThe breakfast spread itself was extensive and provided the perfect start to the day. I was particularly impressed with the Indian food selection. Not only was it thoroughly enjoyed by our group, but I noticed many guests from different nationalities returning for second helpings, which speaks volumes about its quality and flavour.nnAnother standout feature is the hotel's stunning 25-metre indoor swimming pool located on Level 27. The pool area offers spectacular views of Melbourne's skyline and provides a wonderful space to unwind after a long day of exploring the city.nnOverall, Crown Metropol successfully combines comfort, convenience, excellent service and world-class facilities. Whether you are visiting Melbourne for business, leisure or as part of a group, this hotel delivers an experience that is memorable, efficient and genuinely enjoyable.nnI would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Melbourne.nnWarm regards,nAlan Woods
Never in all my years of travelling have I experienced the level of filth and distress that I encountered at Crown Metropol Melbourne.nnWe had booked a four-night stay expecting the level of quality and professionalism associated with the Crown brand. However at approximately 9pm on our very first evening when I went to take a shower I discovered the bathroom in a condition that was genuinely shocking. It was immediately obvious there had been a significant build-up of neglect and inadequate cleaning. There was thick dust, visible mould, a slimy shower floor and what could only be described as sludge around parts of the wet areas. Most concerning of all was visible excrement on the back of the toilet seat, which had clearly not been properly sanitised.nnThe condition of the bathroom left me feeling physically ill. This was not simply a room that had been missed during servicing the level of grime suggested ongoing neglect over a prolonged period. For a hotel positioning itself as a premium property, the standard was completely unacceptable.nnAfter contacting the Duty Manager and showing them the condition of the room, we were relocated at approximately 10:30pm. While the second room was at least clean, it unfortunately came with another major issue, a constant tapping noise coming from within the wall. At first the sound seemed subtle however once noticed it became impossible to ignore. The noise fluctuated throughout the night and both my mother and I were kept awake until close to 1am. Just as we eventually fell asleep from exhaustion we were woken again at approximately 5am by the same noise.nnIn an attempt to block it out, we turned the air-conditioning fan onto high, however this produced its own rattling noise. The combined effect created one of the most restless and distressing hotel stays I have ever experienced. The two nights we spent at Crown Metropol were genuinely the most distressing nights I have experienced at any hotel globally.nnI was travelling with my 76-year-old mother, who found the entire experience deeply upsetting. What should have been a relaxing stay quickly became exhausting and stressful. After speaking with the Duty Manager again the following morning, we requested either a full refund so we could leave the hotel entirely or relocation to Crown Towers Melbourne, as we had completely lost confidence in Crown Metropol. We were advised that a refund could not be offered because the booking had been made through a third party. We therefore spent a second night at Crown Metropol and experienced the same disturbed and restless sleep due to the ongoing tapping noise.nnFollowing further discussions with management and escalation to senior staff, we were eventually relocated to Crown Towers. While I appreciate that management ultimately acted to move us, the compensation offered throughout the ordeal a $100 hotel credit in no way reflected the seriousness of the experience or the level of disruption caused. I repeatedly requested that at minimum a full night’s accommodation credit be applied, however this was declined. Given the condition of the original room, the sleepless nights that followed, and the distress caused to both myself and my elderly mother, the response felt entirely inadequate.nnOverall, the experience was extraordinarily disappointing and has completely diminished my confidence in Crown Metropol. It is not a property I will return to nor one I could recommend to friends, family, or professional colleagues.
We flew to Melbourne last minute, and booked a High floor King Suite.nThe room it's self was clean and uncluttered with a nice view of the city buildings. We had the 23rd floor. It was a reasonable rate too. I liked the mini bar! Lots to chose from but priceynAll the staff were friendly and helpful.nThe Metropol connects with the Casino, so it's easy to get to the restaurants and river front, all inside undercover.
My partner paid extra to secure a room with the best possible view, but unfortunately we were given a room overlooking the car park. The windows were also quite dirty, making it difficult to take good photos.nIn addition, the pool water appeared heavily treated with chemicals, and the breakfast was fairly ordinary. Even coffee was not included and had to be purchased separately.nOverall, the experience did not meet our expectations, especially considering the additional amount paid for an upgraded room.
Very disappointing. Booked three nights to spend some time in Melbourne.nn1. Upon arrival on Thursday night, checked the mini bar and found half empty juice bottle left in there.nn2. I raised this via am SMS. Received the sms that said “any problems, message us here”. I did that. No response.nn3. Friday morning I spoke to reception. I explained my biggest concern was an audit of the mini bar. If half empty bottles were left there, how could I be confident it would be correctly itemised and ensure that I would not be billed. I advised we had not, and would not use anything from the mini bar. Assured it would be addressed.nn4. Returned to the room Friday evening. The half consumed drink remained there. Went to reception and advised it would be sorted by 6pm. Returned after dinner. Nothing done.nn5. Saturday morning raised for the third time. It was addressed when we returned Saturday evening.nnTV has no streaming or mirroring options. In what world is this not available in a hotel. It’s available in the local Holiday Inn.nnTile grout dirty. Holes in tiles where tap fittings are.nnAll over a pretty disappointing service for a hotel of that price. The local pub does better.nnI would definitely not stay there again.
