Very well designed museum and exhibits. All staff were helpful and its a good place to get lost in for a few hours. Was surprised about the amount of live animals kept in the museum and really helped enhance the experience. Learnt a lot about Melbourne as a first time visitor and something people need to go at least once when they come here
The dinosaur exhibition that included Horidus the Triceratops was worth the trip from Sydney by itself. However that is not to say that the other exhibits were not also outstanding. The extensive insect collection had been removed from old fashioned cabinets and were hung from the walls in a more accessible fashion.nI felt that the exhibition on Rome though arranged thematically and well was a bit short on really top class content. I suppose the European museums are loathe to loan out their best stuff.
The Melbourne Museum was incredible! We were fortunate enough to see the Star Wars LEGO exhibition, which was amazing. You should definitely spend half a day here. It's one of the most beautiful museums I’ve visited in the world.
Excellent exhibition spaces. Good for the whole family. Often have touring exhibitions which are a great reason to visit. Exhibition prices include museum entry. It can get very busy during school holidays and weekends. This means it is quite noisy with lots of children around. There are cafes and a restaurant so food is available however it's not cheap. Otherwise, the museum would get 5 stars.
Melbourne museum was a great experience and truly will encourage anyone to visit it! It was split into four main sections:nnThe Rome section was the biggest part.There were so many artefacts to see, and it was really interesting seeing how Rome came together as one of strongest states back in the days. Definitely one of my favourite parts.nnThe forest area was sooo beautiful.The green trees made everything feel really peaceful, and the air was so fresh. It was honestly such a nice place to walk around and just enjoy the atmosphere. And seeing the trees that serviced bushfire made me grateful for the firefighters who works hard everyday.nnThe First Peoples section was really interesting too. There were different instruments and artefacts around the museum . Unfortunately, I didn’t get to properly go inside and explore this part, but from what I saw, it looked really interesting.nnThe animal section was really put together and had lots of cool things to look at. The food was a little overpriced, but it was still pretty good.nnOverall, I had such a good time at Melbourne Museum and would definitely recommend going, especially if you’re interested in history, nature or animals
