Emergency department is so efficient. The doctors, nurses and admin staff are wonderful. I could not fault them. My husband received good care. He was diagnosed and treated in a reasonable time frame.
We are most fortunate to have the medical staff and skills at the Gympie Hospital. Recently in the ED, I was treated for a ridicously persistent blood nose. Over a period of 8hrs, the patient-centred care I received was calm, proficient and highly competent. I couldn't help but notice the interactions of other health staff with other patients was equally gentle, respectful and professional. Thank you to the nurses Mez and Grace, and especially to Dr Rupert for resolving my nasal bleed.. most grateful.
Highly recommend avoiding!nnAs if maternal appointments and staff weren’t bad enough, we’ve taken our 10week old son in tonight 12/05/26. We were told to take a seat and someone would come check his observations sick people everywhere coughing and sneezing all over the place and raining outside so we chose the rain. We waited 19 min a 10 week old baby is classed as a CAT1 - CAt2 meaning max wait time is 10 minswithout someone even checking his obs, yet other adults have been taken through and obs checked- also meaning staff are not trained!nnWe are currently driving all the way to sunny coast at 9:30pm at night just to get decent treatment.nnIf it was not my son sick and myself instead, I’d rather die at home in pain then come to this hospital!
DONT BOTHER, DRIVE TO SCUHnBrought my partner to the emergency department suffering extreme abdominal pains, throwing up, blood in urine. 7hrs of waiting uncomfortably in the waiting room. Not once offered a bed or a more private space. There doesnt seem to be any attention to care. In the 15 odd years of living in Gympie not ONCE have I had a good experience in the emergency department. We will be driving straight to SCUH in future.
I was in emergency for a kidney stone which was now blocking my ability to void and in fact I had a litre of fluid in my bladder. However the Dr available didn't feel like deploying a catheter. I assume this was because I am a male due to her comments. Had to wait until morning change over. By this time I had 1.5 litres in my bladder according to ultra sound. Finally got treatment and relief, however it would appear that the stone was basically pushed back into the bladder again. The next time I had to void urine the stone blocked the catheter and instead of the urine filling the bag basically forced the catheter half out of my body causing another doctor to have to remove the entire thing. On top of this my new reading glasses went missing along with my car keys as well. Just disappeared. I guess I should be grateful that I managed to retain my phone and wallet.nRather stressful experience for someone who was quite delusional at the time and had actually passed out as well. Not so sure I should have been released however was released only to be returned due to my delusional status from lack of sleep, pain, and PTSD kicking in from previous Military Service for this Country. Perhaps a lockable draw for personal items is in order in emergency ward??nI am grateful however to have the stone out. It's unfortunate as well this was not reflected in my discharge notes with why the catheterwas removed. Also the Dr certificate had some other patients name on it once I opened the envelope which clearly had my name marked on it. Embarrassing.
