High recommend for maternity services. The midwives are amazing and show respect and care. Although the night staff appeared stretched and stressed, the day staff were patient and always took the time to answer questions and provide support. The physio who visited almost daily after my c-section was fabulous (so helpful and kind!) and the other support staff including the lactation consultant and paediatrician visited regularly and were wonderful also.

I had surgery six months ago and my throat specialist advised that he conducted his operations at this hospital. He advised that I would need a drain in my neck post op to be removed the following day before my discharge. When I was in the post op recovery area, I hadn't fully come to and couldn't open my eyes or talk but I heard one of the nurses say to the other "The drain snapped so I taped it back together". The other nurse made some comment and I thought to myself, that doesn't sound good but then I was back out to it. The next day when they removed the drain, the nurse advised me that it was broken and hadn't worked. To my knowledge, my surgeon wasn't told about the faulty drain and nobody really bothered to check it anyway despite a few comments from me. The surgeon had placed a tight waterproof adhesive over the stitches and they came out about nine days later. Two weeks after the surgery I had a massive infection which oozed for a week. I have no doubt that the gunk trapped under the dressing which hadn't drained away was probably the cause of the infection. I was supposed to be on holidays in Melbourne and it was a horrible week for me. Additionally, no sleep due to a faulty fluid machine beeping all night and waking the lady in the bed next to me. I asked for it to be replaced and they didn't. The nurses station was going off all night as well and in the morning, no hot drink offered with breakfast. I've never experienced that before anywhere unless you're fasting. Overall, I will ensure I stay away from this hospital in future.

As the partner of someone who had surgery (at middle age for the first time,) at the hospital all went well everyone from the front reception right through to ancillary staff, nurses and Doctors were great. Very clean and quiet hospital, would I recommend this hospital? yes!

Overall experience for my good friend was terrible after surgery. She had a cyst removed in her throat and the drain snapped and was taped on. The doctor wasn't told to her knowledge even though he had requested the drain. She heard the nurses discuss it when she was coming out of the anaesthetic. The next day the nurses who removed the drain commented that it wasn't connected up properly and liquid started spurting out through the waterproof dressing then and leaking for the next few days. Nobody even checked on her to see if the drain was still connected after the surgery. Two weeks later, the wound was badly infected and caused her misery for a week. She had no sleep because the fluids drip machine kept beeping constantly every five minutes but they refused to replace it when she asked. On top of that she was outside the nurses station and the nurses were busy so the alarm was going off all night. She was not even asked for a cup of tea or coffee for breakfast. Seriously, who doesn't want a hot drink for breakfast?

Stayed in maternity overnight after laparoscopy. Well looked after through stay, however the ward was extremely loud at night with the nurse intercom/bell, talking etc. Take ear plugs.
