Fantastic hospital right from the start until discharge. Nurses were lovely and attentive and the whole surgery experience ran very smooth. The food was 5 stars for hospital food and you get to choose your menu. All rooms are single rooms with a bathroom spacious enough. Probably could start updating the recliners as they are getting old and the “pantry” on the ward could be updated and modernized.
We recently stayed in the paediatrics ward at Brisbane Private Hospital for my three-year-old daughter’s adenotonsillectomy. The surgery itself went very smoothly, and the nurses provided excellent care once everything was clarified. Initially, there was some confusion — we were taken to our room but found another family already in it, even though we had paid $2700 for a private room. We were placed in a shared room with two other families but thankfully had it to ourselves by the evening.nnThe recliner provided for me to sleep on was broken and kept folding inwards, which made the night quite uncomfortable. I was told not to use the other furniture in the room, which I understand for hygiene reasons, but it was disappointing given the cost.nnThere was also some initial miscommunication, as the nurses didn’t realise my daughter had both her tonsils and adenoids removed and told me her throat wouldn’t hurt. Once they realised, they were apologetic and very attentive for the rest of our stay.nnThe food was surprisingly good — my daughter was offered nuggets, chips, soup, bread, and a cheese cracker platter, and I had corned beef with vegetables, soup, bread, and cheese crackers.nnOverall, despite the rocky start, I was happy with the care we received. The nurses, wardies, and staff were all kind, warm, and professional, and they made sure my daughter was comfortable and cared for overnight.
I was hospitalized at this facility for a few days, and overall, I felt there was a serious lack of hospitality toward patients. The hospital seemed more focused on its own profits than on patient care. Many of the nurses appeared to prioritize their own convenience over the needs of patients, treating their duties more like routine tasks than genuine caregiving.nnI was in a private room with a door and a curtain at the entrance, but every time a nurse came in, they left the curtain wide open when they left. During my stay, about eight different staff members—including nurses, cleaners, and food service workers—came in and out, and around 90% of them left the curtain open. As a result, I had to get up and close it myself each time.nnAfter foot surgery, I was unable to walk normally and had to use a walker, which I kept next to my bed. However, when a nurse came to take my blood pressure or administer care, they would move the walker out of the way and then leave without returning it to its place. Since I couldn’t reach it on my own, I couldn’t even get to the bathroom.nnOn top of that, meals were usually delivered, and just three minutes later, someone would come in to check my blood pressure or give me medication, forcing me to interrupt my meal and take medicine while eating.
Excellent. From admissions to pre-op, post-op, ward nurses, and orderlies, every one I dealt with were absolutely wonderful. They all made my stay, and surgery, way less stressful. Meals were really great too! Well done to the whole team.
I can't thank the Brisbane private hospital enough, from the foryer to operating rooms, wards and physio. The staff are friendly and always aiming to please. The meals were wonderful almost 5 star. Thank you for making my stay wonderful.
