I attended this hospital for day surgery and right from the admissions clerk to Nursing/Doctors staff can't rate it high enough. Everyone was absolutely lovely attentive and made me feel very at ease. I was there at the change of shift and the nursing staff were wonderful and well informed. Thank you to my specialist Dr Ameratunga for her warmth and kindness and to Dr Mike Willis my Anaesthetist who made me laugh and feel so comfortable. All the staff thank you.

Currently waiting at the hospital for a second surgery and felt like thanking all the staff, from admissions to post-op. Every one is kind, attentive to your personal needs, and walk around with a smile even all you can do is cry about your situation. Dear Nurses, I praise you. Thank you for choosing to be here every day and making people's lives a little less stressful considering the situation. Huge thanks to the volunteers at admissions, such as Theresa. So much kindness. X

The reviews here seem to be either one star or five stars with little in-between. So, I suspect a few sock puppets have been active, eh? As with all private hospitals of my experience this one seems intent on maximising profits. Evidence included the place being scruffy to say the least and much of its equipment had that worn-out look. Despite the long process of ticking boxes on my admission and putting a red wristband on me to signify I had diabetes, I was fed normal jelly, custard and ice cream after my dental surgery.. The result was a mega-high blood sugar reading. More, the dispensing nurse told me the wrong dosage for my terminal medication, I had to show him specialist notes which he was obviously unaware of. Having moved here from Sydney three years ago, my friends there warned me that health care in Queensland is rubbish. I think I escaped BPH lightly and will look to fly-in and fly-out of Sydney next time.

My mom had a total hip replacement here and worst experience in hospital care from surgeon as well as ward nurse who attended to my mom. Nurse is rude, she seems not happy to change sheets and said my mom is making up her symptoms when in fact her haemoglobin is too low and it was not detected , she cannot eat for a week . Her low haemoglobin was only found out after she was moved to rehab ward, wherein she was given 2 bags of blood transfusion straight away and after that was able to eat. Care at the ward after surgery is very disappointing, care at rehab ward is excellent. My mom suffered a rare complication after surgery. Will never go back to this hospital and advise others to go elsewhere.

Be prepared for the following: * the so-called chef to poison you by not following written instructions on special dietary requirements, even when you provide your own food. (Also, very poor knowledge of plant based milks (and inability to read instructions on the pack), which must be shaken so you don't get a glass of water/syrup at the top with white sediment at the bottom.) * nursing care ranging from competent, to nasty (rough handling in the night, with all lights turned on to fully wake you, just to take your blood pressure), to completely absent (no nursing at all on Friday night). They also rely heavily on unpaid student nurses. Teaching is fine; using them as slave labour is not. * a private, for-profit hospital uses volunteers to take patients to the wards -- this should also be a paid role, not a way to exploit people on the dole who need to volunteer to meet mutual obligations. Charities need volunteers, not private wealthy hospitals. * I observed the cleaner use the same sponge she used in the bathroom to then wipe down my food tray. Gross. No wonder I came home with an infection. * you'll need to demand back any s8 pain medication you take with you to the hospital because they lock them up and "forget" to return them when you are discharged. * the pharmacy did not provide my medications the first night, despite my having been at the hospital since 8.30am and their being prescribed at that time. * they have one person on admission. This meant it took 35 mins before I was admitted, and consequently commencement of treatment was delayed, not just for me but also the people scheduled after me. I would not return to this hospital, except this is where my chosen doctor consults. Healhscope (the company behind BPH and other hospitals) also has a number of unpublished policies affecting people with disabilities. These aren't published on their website, and should be, so that people and doctors can arrange their treatment accordingly. Thumbs down.
