I am very thankful that I got a referral to the Centre. The nursing staff, volunteers and allied health were very caring , supportive and super helpful. The education sessions were also very informative and a safe space to ask lots of questions.

The staff are very friendly and really helpful. In one week of being there my son has stopped co sleeping stop night feeds and given up his dummy. He is also sleeping through the night. Before going he was waking up anywhere from 4 or more time a night. I was very happy and grateful for all the help and information I was given.

Don't let a few mediocre reviews make you feel uncertain. Approach this experience with an open mind. You are at the point of needing the Ellen Barron Family Centre for a reason, but also know that your feelings and voice are important. I had a 10 month old who wasn't sleeping through and needed to be patted to sleep in arms. I had set these bad habits up in a bid to keep him quiet and not wake my eldest son. After a week at the Ellen Barron Family centre we have no more night bottles, self settling and sleeping 12 hours at night. I found the nurses to be supportive and compassionate. The information sessions are good. Not having to cook for the week was delightful too. I was able to really connect and watch my youngest son, see those tired signs and get him to bed when he was ready. I cannot recommend this service enough. How lucky are we to be Australians and have Medicare? Very fortunate! Thanks for an amazing experience.

After almost 8 months of awful sleeping and trying every tip/trick/comforted etc going we were given a referral to EBFC. If you're looking at going too I suggest having an open mind and an open heart as this is not easy at all! Day one I struggled so much and had a mummy break down, day two was even worse, day three was really good and I managed to have a six hour block of sleep and my daughter was able to play and eat happily until her morning nap which has been a struggle until now. Now on day four and things are getting easier and making sense. The methods they use may not suit every family but they do work and the nurses have told me that whenever I felt uncomfortable I could go to my baby and give her hands on comfort. You are taught how to respond to bubs cries and how to react appropriately. I've gone from cosleeping, 1-2 hour wake ups and milk runs to my daughter having the confidence to sleep in her own space and to not need milk feeds during the night. I wasn't expecting a miracle of her sleeping through but the breakthrough is amazing. You get supported through the day and night by nurses who have been supportive and full of information and advice to make the journey easier. Here's to night four being a success and for your journey to be as good as ours.

Awful. Nurses who think they know better than paediatricians, are rude and openly contradict each other. Every shift change is a new nurse to tell you that you shouldn't be following the instructions of the previous nurse and even had one nurse wake my child up after the agony of getting him to sleep. An absolute waste of time and energy. 3 months on and we're no better off.
