My Dad spent the last several weeks of his life up on 10B at Mater Hospital, and I couldn't sing the praises of the healthcare staff that worked with Dad and us more.nThe nurses were truly incredible, their compassion, patience and kindness both to Dad and to us his family while Dad was so sick meant so much, and there is no way I could thank them enough. When Dad decided to opt for palliative care, they went above and beyond to make sure his wishes were granted. We are beyond grateful to your amazing team. Thank you for everything, we'll always remember the care, empathy and kindness that was shown. Thank you so much for making a very hard time, a lot easier. You are all truly amazing people. Thank you for everything from the bottom of our hearts!nShelley, Kimberley and Holly
My daughter presented to the ED with kidney stones, and from the moment we arrived she was so well looked after. The communication from both the doctors and nurses was outstanding, and the care she received during her 8 hours in short stay was brilliant.nnA special thank you to RN Joey in short stay, who went above and beyond to ensure my daughter’s comfort. She is only 4 weeks post-partum and needed to pump every few hours - Joey showed her such dignity and ensured she had the privacy and support she needed.nnWe left with a clear plan in place and felt reassured by the excellent level of care provided. Thank you to the whole team for your professionalism, kindness, and compassion.
Thru tests and more tests, I found out that I had a serious issue which made me need major surgery. Being a level 1, I was in for a risky surgery due to many other conditions. Within 2 months I was booked in the night before as I was first inline 7am. Finished up in ICU for 3 days as I needed to be monitored closely round the clock. Apart from the first nurse whom I called nurse ratchet. Everyone there was so caring, informed about my situation, smiles all around and the menu you get now WOW they have definitely stepped it up. In closing for women's issues I would say go to the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. They really do care and think of the patients before anything else.nI was petrified about it but InGive thanks to all of my Doctors, surgeons, nurses, and the lovely people who bring the meals. You all are the real hero's
Not a lot of parking but the foremost Queensland hospital for all adults! Located in the heart of our State Capital! It stands as a beacon of free science and research centres. And the pinnacle of our free health care!
Absolute disgrace! Never go to this Hospital emergency department if you value your health, your time, or basic respect.nnThe triage nurse and administration staff were polite at the beginning, but after that the experience was appalling. I was taken to the Emergency waiting area.I had with my toddler son with me.nAfter more than 2 hours, my child was restless, so I asked the nurse how long the wait might be. She said there were 3–4 people ahead of us. I then politely asked if they had a colouring sheet or something to keep my son occupied. Her response was extremely rude: “This is not a GP clinic.”nnWorse still, she then went over to her colleague and loudly said, “This lady pisses me off.” This was unprofessional, unkind, and completely unnecessary.nnWe continued waiting for another 5 hours. By 11 p.m. a total of 7 hours from 5 p.m., I could no longer wait, my child couldnt take it any longer and left without being seen by a doctor. During this time, I observed no major rush in the department—just staff chatting casually and moving at a slow pace, as though it were a coffee shop rather than an emergency ward.nI understand waiting time may vary depending on the emergency cases but staff can be courteous and kind to patients. This hospital staff definitely lacks it.nnThis was the worst hospital experience I have ever had. The lack of care, professionalism, and urgency was shocking.
