I had my baby here in the public hospital.  The midwives in the day clinics were awesome but my experience with childbirth was really bad. I had an emergency c-section and very traumatic birth. In recovery I was by myself and couldn't get out of bed and my baby was left to cry next to me for long periods of time. I was having difficulty with breastfeeding and the nurse on duty forced me to give formula to my baby instead of helping me with my problem.  One nurse refused to help me get out of bed. As soon as I could walk, even though I was having breastfeeding issues,  the hospital decided I should go home even though I had nobody to support me at home. I can't help but think if I had proper help with my breastfeeding in hospital that I wouldn't have been struggling for the next 6 months with it. Maybe a good hospital if you have no birth complications and not a first time mum..

A fantastic hospital, all the staff I dealt with were absolutely lovely. I knew I was in excellent care. I can't thank the staff enough ❤❤❤  Would 100% recommend.

My husband (Ian) came in by 7:00 a. m. on Friday 22 Sep by Ambulance. Doctors/nurses were most helpful and supportive! A Dr (Asian looking lovely young man) made me tea (I hadn't had breakfast) - we were there until late afternoon. A Senior Dr also spoke with us- (German), even had time to have a friendly chat, made us feel relaxed. Thank you so much for your time!

Thanks to the staff at Mater hospital and the ambos.  Got great treatment. Was seen quickly.  Ambulance arrived in about 15 mins.  Was super quick

Went to the Mater via Ambulance a while back cause I’ve got ongoing back pain that comes and goes and was put into the waiting room but didn’t have to wait long, saw a lovely Scottish doctor named Naomi Kelly, she then got a urine sample, bloods, X-rays and made sure everything looked normal, then send me up onto the ward due to my past history of HL (Hodgkins Lymphoma) or blood cancer, she had written me up pain medication to have whilst on the ward which was very helpful seeing as I was in so much pain! Didn’t get a very good nights sleep though, as there was another lady who was screaming in agony because of pain, but the nurses were lovely! Another doctor came and saw me in the morning on the ward and he had organised a letter for an MRI scan to be done on my back and an appointment with a pain specialist and sent me home with some pain relief. For a public hospital, the mater is very good and they listen to what’s wrong, I’ve had to come back and forth here within the last month, due to seeing my GP and then being told to go back to the hospital or phoning 13 health and asking what to do! Bit silly to go to your GP after being at the hospital and then being told to go back? But the Mater nurses and doctors are wonderful, even in the ED!
