Re. Emergency Department Hervey Bay Hosp.nAfter recently experience taking a relative into Hervey Bay Hospital I'm pleased to write that it was a very good experience. We arrived late in the evening. The staff were friendly, the hospital facilities were clean and the facilities didn't seem to be overstretched. I'm sure that people experience this hospital differently when really really busy but I found the triage very fast, the doctor's evaluation very swift and the nurses very skilled. I'd be quite happy to be admitted to this hospital in a moment of need. I've since been told now that their reluctance to scan ie provide radiology in the night is not in line with hospital policy... I'm told by a doctor that they have a track record of working in a manner that's contrary to such a policy.... Apparently as an emergency department they are meant to scan as required.
The hospital is in crisis. The staff do an impossible job, totally run off their feet. There are simply not enough beds either in the wards or in ER. 3 hours in ER waiting room, triage makes no sense. Clearly very sick people waiting hours, especially the elderly, while small children running around happily and people laughing and scrolling phones seen first. If your lucky and admitted, again stay time is kept to the very minimum so others can have the bed. Hervey Bay is a town of 64,000 residents, 121,000 in the Fraser Coast, plus 1.5 million tourists, yet out patients wait list is insanely long. Specialists are limited, meaning patients must travel 4 hours each way to Brisbane. There are no words for how limited parking is, expect to park streets away during visiting time. Forget building new Stadiums in Brisbane, put the money into building new hospitals.
Extremely Disappointed - Serious NegligencennI am deeply dissatisfied with the care I received at the Hervey Bay hospital. I reported rapid pain and symptoms that indicated something was wrong with my spinal fusion. Despite this, no one took any meaningful steps to investigate my concerns. I was dismissed, and my condition was not properly assessed.nnEventually, I discovered that my spinal fusion has failed in multiple places. A serious complication that should never have been overlooked. This failure to act and investigate has caused unnecessary suffering and put my health at serious risk. I expected professional, attentive care, and instead I was met with indifference and negligence.nnPatients deserve to be heard and taken seriously. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone seeking responsible medical care.
John Odel in radiology is amazing. Took my teenage son here and his service is beyond excellent.nThe whole team was amazing, from triage to doctor to x-rays.nWell done guys for providing such great care. Just got even better. We had I believe Dr Tim do our assessment. He went above and beyond. I am so impressed with service received today
My 4yo daughter hurt herself while on holidays. She was seen really quickly in ED and we are very thankful for that. The car park was over full with lots of vehicles parked illegally due to insufficient parking to accommodate both staff and visitors. We had to risk a parking ticket to be able to get our daughter seen by a doctor.
