The Hollywood Avondale

Felt like I went back in time going to this beautiful theatre. As you walk in you greeted by friendly staff scanning your ticket and the smell of popcorn lures you to the snack and bar counter. Great variety of options and price reasonably. The seats are comfy and sound is great and theatre is clean. there is loft seating aswell. Would definitely go back there to enjoy a movie.

What a fun venue to visit! I had never been here until the NZ international film festival. I came here three occasions, and even though it was super busy most nights/afternoons, I really enjoyed it.nnIt’s quite a beautiful venue and I enjoyed how refreshing it looked. Considering how old it is, the venue is pretty well maintained and made for a great viewing experience. Even though seats and floors are quite old, they did the job just fine. The bathrooms were also very tidy.nnThe food/drinks area had a range of options - more so than many other larger cinemas. They were also reasonably priced. There is also free water available which is a nice touch too. The popcorn cups are a little small imo $5 so you may want to get two if you get through it quickly like I do!nnLastly, the staff were super knowledgeable and friendly - it made all the difference. You can tell that they are really passionate about the movie-watching experience.

We had my sons wedding here. The staff were excellent and super helpful. Weird as it might seem the layout of bar and outside worked really well. Including a space to dance afterwards. 10/10 to Billie and the team.

The cinema and films selections here are absolutely top notch. Cinemas like this a rare and deserve the upmost support.nnIf I'm being absolutely honest the food/snack and drink selection is truly woeful. Hence the 4 out of 5.
