Had wonderful experience at Hoyts at Sylvia Park. We booked our seats previously and it was a breeze getting to the cinema.The Lux recliners were so comfortable and spacious. The theatre was spotless. Surround sound and lighting was perfect. Service was friendly and efficient. Food delivered was hot, fresh and delicious. Clean facility's. All and all making it a most enjoyable time.
This HOYTS location is a fantastic place to grab a high-quality snack and enjoy a modern lobby vibe. However, the core cinematic experience—the sound and the seating—needs some refinement to match the premium feel of the rest of the facility.
Tried lux for first time last year. It was the smaller private cinema downstairs. So cozy and only a couple of dozen people. Plenty of leg space and a lazy boy chair you can recline. Plenty of space for food and drinks. Not far to walk back out to the bar to order extras. You get a free popcorn and drink with the seat. Get VIP rewards and it pays for itself if you go several times a year. Wouldn’t go back to sitting in main cinema. You can order meals and drinks to be brought out to you as well. There’s quite a good selection. The main cinemas have lux areas too. Staff at the bar area are always super friendly and helpful and do a great job handing out all the food and drinks during the movie in the dark. Lux is my new go to.
Good enough cinema - big screens and big crowds.nCouple of issues;nSome of the screens are dirty enough that when you have a mostly white screen you can see plenty of marks etcnWORST thing though is that there is absolutley no ability to know the price of ANY snacks prior to going to pay for them. You have to help yourself to whatever you want then see what they charge you when its too late to put it back. REALLY bad if you are with kids - can make an informed decision. You cant see online, on the ticket booths that are supposed to see the snacks, by the snacks themselves. Nowhere. REALLY bad.
One team member was wonderful and we enjoyed the movie but apart from that: cinema smelt of wee, the lobby is very impersonal and unfriendly and the popcorn was stale with a very high ratio of unpopped corn. The 12.30 movie started at 12.45. If I hadn't had a membership it would have cost $75 for 3 people, 3 icecreams and 1 popcorn. Only 2 others in the audience, and I think I know why....
