The best in the Southern Hemisphere!n​If you want the ultimate Kiwi fish and chip experience, The Fish Box is unbeatable. The fish is incredibly fresh, the batter is light and crispy without being greasy, and the portions are huge.n​Grab some fresh Gurnard or Snapper and head down to the Taupō lakefront for the perfect meal. A total must-visit—nothing else in NZ even comes close!
First time we had Snapper and it was awesome. Also I have never seen so much fish and chips in two servings. If you want take-away fish and chips you will not go wrong coming to Fish Box. Unless you love lots and lots of chips I would recommend the 1/2 scoop.
This place is fantastic. Best fish n chips meal I have had ever. Very light and crispy batter, very generous in their portions, service with a smile.nIf you're looking for a 'shark n taties' takeaway in Taupo you cant go past this place. Thoroughly recommend The Fish Box!
This place used to be really good. However now it seems to be very average at best.nnAdvice to the owners: if someone spends $50-$60 on fish and chips they deserve a few complimentary slices of lemon for the seafood and even a sauce tub or two for the Paua fritter. The salt pepper squid had no pepper was just fried squid, again really needed some lemon and the fried muscles were mushy/wet after only 5 mins driving down the park. I asked for chicken salt on the chips and got reg salt. Perhaps new ownership? Certainly seems like it.
Great fish and chips. There was a section of fish to chose from. We chose Gurnard- a long narrow fish which has a mild flavor. We were suprised at the generous helping of both fish and chips. Added tomato since which was a bargain at $2 was watties I am sure of it. Highly recommended !
