I hate to leave a bad review but also appreciative of an honest review….the prawns were tasteless. I ordered a 1/2 kilo of prawns with garlic butter. The texture was like they had been frozen and reheated a few times and not enough garlic butter to cover it up. I was pretty surprised after seeing good reviews - but maybe I caught them on a bad day?nnThe staff were friendly and the restaurant has a great view though. If I were to come here again, I would order something less expensive like chips just to enjoy the view.

This venue combines a restaurant with a prawn fishing experience. While the restaurant serves fresh and delicious prawns, our afternoon fishing experience was disappointing. Despite around 40 people trying their luck at the fishing pond for over an hour, only one lady managed to catch a single prawn. The poor catch rate seemed less about fishing skill and more about the limited number of prawns in the pond. Four star for the food and two star for fishing experience, averaged as a three star.

If you love prawns, this is the perfect spot for you. Be sure to try the prawns with garlic butter and the highlight, the delicious prawn soup. After your meal, you can enjoy a complimentary hot foot baths—don’t miss it!

The shrimp is as delicious as ever. The staff is patient, enthusiastic and professional. The food is served quickly and the portions are generous. Definitely recommended.

We love prawns, so this is our favorite place on the way to taupo. The staff are super nice .
