What a delightful introduction to welcome someone to Taupo.nWe were met by genuine waiters, engaging and holding entertaining convos, recommending great options, the young maori gentle man and his native humour would be the highlight of our night.nMenu and delivery exceeded expectations and value for money. Prawn twisters were a hit for us.nRoom for improvement? Drinks could have been quicker as our entree turned up before hand, nothing on the waiter, bar was very slow.nSeated by the window with the best view of Taupo lake, a very nice touch. Would definitely recommend.
The restaurant looks up market, the moment you escorted inside. There is a real feeling of quality.nnWe were greeted by staff who genuinely engaged with us and who clearly were out to provide great service and attention to detail. They succeeded.nnThe menu detailed a small range of tasty sounding dishes, and our selections were beautifully cooked and presented.nnPrice wise the cost is up there with the best, but to be fair you do get something that is prepared to your order. My venison was simply on the money for taste and presentation.nnThe setting is stunning. We were seated in a full sized picture window that presented gorgeous views of the setting sun disappearing behind the hills on the western side of the lake. Almost surreal, and quite a component of a great night out.nnSo was it good value? Well when you consider the setting, the professionalism of the staff, the beautiful food that pointed to talented kitchen staff, you'd have to say yes. A great experience for a special occasion.
Nice quiet restaurant on the lakefront with beautiful sunset views. Small but well thought out menu. All the food we had was delicious we had salmon and lamb. To get to the restaurant you go through the front doors of the hotel. We had a window seat which did have great views but quite hot in the sun.
For us, there were 2 main reasons why we wanted to dine at Edgewater Restaurant Taupo.nnFirstly, the restaurant is situated right next to Lake Taupo. This gives diners a splendid view of the lake and surrounding scenery while dining in a beautifully appointed restaurant.nnSecondly, it is well known that the food at Edgewater Restaurant is one of the best in Taupo. As we were craving for some steak, we decided to give the Rib-Eye In Bone Steak a try this time.nnAfter browsing through the menu of Edgewater Restaurant Taupo, we decided onnnBraised Lamb Shank $38 NZDnCreamy mashed potato smoked bacon and green peas lamb jusnnRib-eye on the bone 500g at $68nServed with house made truffle butter Duck fat potato 1 side dish 1 saucennChoice of sauce include: Red wine jus and mushroom saucenChoice of sides include: Seasonal vegetables garlic and herb butter, Garden salad wholegrain mustard vinaigreete, Saute Mushroom fresh herbs, Steak Fries house made aioli, Duck fat potatoes rosemary saltnnAs the steak already comes with the duck fat potato, we decided to go with the healthy option of seasonal vegetables as the 2nd side. Lovely staff who were welcoming and attentive throughout the whole dining experience. For dinner we had the steak, it was cooked perfectly tender and the butter chicken was flavourful. They surprised me with a delicious dessert for my special occasion. Will return for lunch to enjoy the view.
