Sudima Lake Rotorua

The staff at this hotel are amazing! They are caring, compassionate, professional and are genuinely kind people. The hotel was nice the breakfast was delicious, location was great etc but I would return mainly for the people working here.nnThanks guys!

The service from the staff in in all aspects from the receptionist to the wait staff were all exceptional. I loved their use of the maori language always smiling and so welcoming.nOur room smelt like mould. It was horrible to walk in there we stayed in room 425. Also the internet wouldn't work from our room and when I told the receptionist she politely explained that sometimes it won't work in that part of the hotel but i even tried to connect it in the lobby and it wouldn't work, Although she was lovley I don't really feel that was acceptable as it's apart of what you pay for so the kids ended up chewing through my data.

The bathroom definitely needs an upgrade, especially the shower, as there is mold and the wall grout is brown. During check-in, my husband asked about breakfast options and was informed that we could order from a menu instead of using the buffet. However, when I went to the breakfast area, the female attendant told us we had to place our order online, which would then go directly to the chef for delivery to our room. And, We wanted to eat at the café.nWhen I asked that same lady for the Wi-Fi password, she made me walk to the reception, even though I was struggling to walk.nnAfter waiting for a while, I decided to speak to the receptionist about my concerns. When I complained, the receptionist agreed that she shouldn't have been made to walk to reception for the Wi-Fi password and that a menu for ordering breakfast should have been provided to me. Later, a manager apologized for the attendant’s behavior and said he would address the issue with her.nnMy son was hungry, so I took a buffet for him, and he ended up eating only hash browns since he didn’t like anything else and also we are vegetarian. He had about seven hash browns on his plate, and when I asked if he wanted more, he said the lady who was bringing food outside told him to only take a little so that others could have some. I paid 20NZD for the buffet for him, and he should be able to eat as much as he wants.nnBy that point, we were running late, so we left without having breakfast.

Stayed at Sudima Lake Rotorua for one night during our road trip. Not sure how this is a 4 star hotel. A 3 star rating would be very generous, on a very good day. Terrible service. Arrived at almost 4pm and been told to wait for our room for 20 minutes FYI check in time is at 2pm. There were at least two other guests who had to wait for their rooms even longer than us. No clear explanation as to why the room wasn't ready. The room itself looked very dated with stains on the carpet. Some of the glasses and cuttlery did not look clean and the hallway had a terrible odor. The only great thing about the hotel is the location - very close to all main attractions and Rotorua CBD. Would not stay here again or recommend to anyone.

I was disappointed to find out the pool wasn't open and work was being done on one of the blocks of rooms. I was woken early the first morning so I mentioned it to the manager Dana, as the letter in the room had stated work wouldn't start til 08.00. She was very understanding when she realised I had booked this hotel because of the photos of the lovely pool on the web site. She offered me a pass to the Polynesian Spa to make up for this and took to time to talk to me over a coffee. She explained the work is to Earthquake strengthen the hotel.
