Sudima Lake Rotorua

Location is great. Short walk to town, right next to the Polynesian Pools.nThe rooms are fine, what you expect really. Comfortable enough bed, basic amenities. However, the bathroom has black mould on the wall in the grout, I wiped it and it came off easily. The biggest concern for me was the fact the smoke alarm had been removed from the room, leaving the base of it on the ceiling. When I questioned this at the front desk I was told they are upgrading them as they weren’t that good. Updating or not, removing them and not replacing isn’t a great look.

I love hotels, but this place was a bit too plain for my liking. Gets the job done.nnThey gave my parents and I two rooms; both had two large beds. At night, it was very peaceful so I fell asleep easily.nnAdditionally, our breakfast buffet included bacon, sausage, pancakes, yogurt and fruit. That was delicious.

The town itself is rather depressed looking, and there are several hotels/motels that appear rundown.nnWe stayed at the “Sudima” and it’s well located to access downtown and it’s nearly next door to the Polynesian Spa.nnThe hotel has undergone renovations. The front lobby, restaurant, lobby restrooms and bar area are simply decorated but nice. The dinner we had at the restaurant was delicious. Excellent butter chicken and a perfectly cooked steak.nnThe room itself is what brings this hotel down. A coat of paint is all it’s had. The room is sparsely furnished, has no pictures, mirrors nor bedside lamps. The bed itself was just O.K in comfort.

I loved the location right front of the water.nThe lobby/ bar area was great to have a cup of coffee in the morning overlooking at a beautiful view.nThe room was ok and I found curtains were dirty.nSingle beds in our room were also not really comfortable.nCleaners were trying to come in twice before checking out & it wasn’t pleasant.nnWe eventually went to Polynesian Spa because the heated swimming pool was not warm enough to use.nA walking distance to Polynesian Spa.

Excellent service, excellent hotel. Staff were kind and helpful.nnInternet was a bit flaky but staff helped and fixed it straight away.nnTegan one of the staff there was so lovely and gave perfect service nnBest hotel!
