We had 2 rooms to fit the family. The room is average for the price. The bathroom needs renovation. The shower head is broken. However, service is excellent. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is really good as it is close to everything. We love the heated pool. My kids enjoyed the pool everyday. Walkability: Hotel is very close to everything. You can walk to the shops, cafes etc..
Jut spent two nights there while on a tour. Room was okay. Clean but could use an upgrade. The gym is terrible. Two treadmills but one broken. Cable pull-down machine broken. Has a bench and free weights. Breakfast buffet first morning raw bacon, scrambled eggs and the usual. You have to get your own coffee. No bottled water in the room. Dinner was okay and the bar drinks and beer were reasonably priced.
Not great value for money. The room is very basic and the bathroom looks like in urgent need for an upgrade. The shower head is super old style and difficult to use with kids. The carpet in the room needs some cleaning too. The sound proof is very bad. We were woken up multiple times in early morning by noises from the corridor. The breakfast is also very basic. The bacon was super dry. Overall it’s way below our expectations relative to what we paid for. The location is however convenient. We will not stay here again.
We got a room with a lake view, not really any lake view tho mostly the building next door with a slither of the lake over the roof of it. Room had a balcony, no furniture tho. Room smelled badly of sulphur/ rotten eggs and the smell only got worse when u opened the balcony door. Cushions on the bed smelt badly of sulphur as well. Bed mattress was very worn with a large body dint in it. It was a Long walk to the room as well. Close to cbd, cafes and shops. The staff were lovely. We won’t be staying here again tho.
First time in NZ paid and expected 5 star service. Paid $350 a night. The place is run down, 2 spas don’t work, when I asked why I was told they just stopped before covid and never have worked again.. REALLY No room service the phone in the room is dead, the main bar is only functioning when a function is on. The pool ladder is dangerous and broken. The bar in the pool area is no functioning, staff are very limited and unfriendly. When asked for a cocktail I was told they don’t have the ingredients, this is peak time really guys. Breakfast buffet is very average.. I never write reviews but for a advertised hotel stating it’s 5 + that’s a joke.
Great location, very central with lots of parking available. The hotel is very outdated, with thin windows that let in a lot of street noise, an ineffective air conditioning that made our room a sauna, rusty bathroom hardware and worn-out furniture. The first room we were given did not lock, which is an unacceptable thing to discover when coming back from dinner a few hours later. They agreed to change our room which was a nice upgrade, and magically our new room had a set of glassware and all the complimentary toiletries, which our first room lacked. The gentleman who checked us in did so with a scowl, we didn’t feel welcome at the start. The lady checking us out was very friendly though. Rooms: Okay, bed was comfy and water pressure good, but nothing else special Walkability: Excellent
Fairly major refurb going on, and the hotel has prioritised income over the guests' experience, I e. They have continued to let rooms close to the building works, with all the noise of drilling, banging etc. during normal work hours. Our room was a bit tired and would benefit from this work. The fitness room also needs attention. Broken / out of service machines and no access to water fountain. Otherwise, the location is good for scenic views of the lake, an easy 15min walk into the town centre for bars and restaurants and good parking at the hotel.
We recently stayed in the Millennium Hotel for 3 nights for a family party. From when we arrived til we departed all the staff were extremely helpful & even when we wanted 2 extra chairs & some plants for a small gathering in our hotel room they were quick & gracious to meet our needs. When the food was running low at breakfast they quickly replenished stocks. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a large family dinner in the dining room on a Friday night & the food was delicious & we were promptly catered for. On the Saturday night we had a private cocktail party at the private bar & the food & service was superb. I would definetly stay here again & hold future family get togethers. Rooms: Clean rooms with all the necessary requirements & the air con was set at the right temperature. Good to have a balcony but 2 chairs & a small table would of been nice. Walkability: I easily walked to the Government Gardens nearby. An easy walk to town& restaurants. Food & drinks: The food at our large private dinner was delicious. We started with a general shared dish of anti pasta. The main course was a choice of 3 dishes & I had the beef cheeks with vegetables which was mouth watering. There was a choice of 3 deserts & I chose the pavlova which was perfect. Everyone I spoke to thoroughly enjoyed whatever dish they chose. We were constantly supplied with wine & beer & any other drink we desired. Great food & service.
I am severely disappointed and let down by this hotel. During my stay, I accidentally left an item in my room as I was rushing to catch a coach. As soon as I noticed it was missing that evening, I contacted the hotel by phone *and* email, and they said they could not ship items internationally. I think this is appalling. I've offered to pay for the shipment and even a handling fee. The item in question is not financially valuable, but holds immense sentimental importance to me. The most the hotel offered was to have me send a prepaid courier bag, but I've been informed by the couriers in my location that this is not offered. I simply don't understand why they're unable to simply go to their local post office to ship it to me. I've lost items before at hotels, and that is usually what happens. I actually confirmed this with a post office worker in Auckland while I was still in the country, and she confirmed that this would be the standard way of affairs in NZ too. It's absurd and terrible that this hotel bills itself as 3 or 4 stars and yet refuses to engage in any kind of acceptable customer service. It's upsetting, and has honestly marred what was otherwise a wonderful trip to New Zealand.
Disappointed after all this time rooms have not been redecorated and updated. Shower over bath my daughter was unable to operate this. Holes in the carpet. Ear infection from pool. Your price is too high for the quality received. Disappointed the beautiful bar is not operational. Little bar in restaurant has no atmosphere if you want to hang around the complex. Walkability: Close to town
