Excelent location, close to Eat Street; the hotel has thermal pools very enjoyable. Excelent views of the lake from front rooms!! Very recomendable.nRooms are clean but needs a little maintenance. This hotel could be the best one from Rotorua due to its location and views but needs investment, not much can leverage a lot!!!
Our room was pretty run down including lots of stains all over the carpet and the tub had black stains. That said the bed was comfortable. The breakfast buffet wasn’t great for the price - would’ve expected an omelette station or similar. The fruit was mostly cut up oranges and apples - again for the price maybe something a little nicer. The location however was great and appreciated that while there was no laundry service we had free access to a washer and dryer.
The Hotel has seen better days and is therefore overpriced. Our room was shabby - particularly the bathroom.nThe bed was comfortable.nThe food is poor if you are vegetarian. Now Hotels have no obligation to provide Vegetarian options so this is merely a warning to other veggies or vegans. The evening buffet meal is very expensive so it was disappointing to find that all that was available for veggies was a bit of salad and the puddings.nThere is more available for breakfast - by virtue of it's nature - but no veggie sausages for example.nWhen we stayed for a week we had 3 nights of disturbed sleep. On two of those nights roadworks were taking place outside the Hotel and on the third there was a loudspeaker going ALL NIGHT for a race event.nSurely the Hotel must have know about these events and could have warned us? Paying over $500 for a room when one gets no sleep is outrageous. Warning - ask the Hotel if any events are on before booking - they won't tell you.
Absolutely unacceptable for the price – filthy and poorly managednnWe stayed at this hotel as a group of four adults on a carefully planned trip. Unfortunately, the experience was a disaster from the start.nnCheck-in was supposed to be at 2 PM, but we were only allowed into our room at 3:30 PM – an unacceptable delay of 1.5 hours. This completely disrupted our schedule. After a rafting activity, where we desperately needed a shower to warm up and clean up, we couldn’t even do that. Instead, we had to leave for our next activity, 1.5 hours away, cold and uncomfortable.nnWhen we returned in the evening, things only got worse. The room was absolutely filthy. The bathroom had hairs everywhere—different colors and textures, on the floors, walls, and even the toilet. The carpet was covered in lint and debris. To top it off, there was no shower gel provided, forcing us to use shampoo instead.nnThe lack of cleanliness and attention to basic hygiene was so appalling that we didn’t even dare to order food via room service. We completely lost trust in the hotel’s standards of hygiene and overall cleanliness.nnCharging NZ$350 for such abysmal service and conditions is outrageous. This hotel has no excuse for such neglect, and I would strongly advise anyone considering a stay here to look elsewhere.
As avid travelers we have stayed at great places throughout the our travels. Novotel Rotorua is not one of them. We were not at all impressed with our overall stay, firstly we booked the so called best apartment at the hotel, the royal suite only to find accommodation that was dirty, worn, & dated. There was no milk in the fridge for arriving guests to make a hot drink only three small items of coke, juice & water which you had to pay for Only thing that was lovely was the lake which we viewed through grubby windows. There was no extra blankets in the rooms & when we finally got to speak with reception to ask for more we received one blanket. The toilets in all rooms had a very bad smell either coming from the vents on the floor or from the toilets. Plug missing in spa bath, The breakfast that was ordered looked like it was thrown together & was not appetizing at all. When we went to use the microwave this was rusty. What a bad impression this sets for such a lovely place like Rotorua a tourist destination, fix up your act & clean up that hotel. As far as the cost to us of $2656 for the 2 nights, overly expensive for what we received.nnVery disappointed guests Lyn Griffiths & Family
