We had a wonderful stay at the Ibis Hotel Rotorua! The location is unbeatable—right by the beautiful Lake Rotorua and within walking distance of local attractions and dining spots. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the check-in process smooth and welcoming. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, offering a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring. The breakfast buffet was also a highlight, with a great variety of fresh and tasty options. I highly recommend this hotel for its convenience, comfort, and excellent service.
The location was great, really close to the bay, the park with all the natural hot water and mud pools, and in walking distance to shops and eateries especially Eat Streat. Complimentary parking was a great added bonus, staff was friendly, and the room was clean. The only downside was the room for 3 people was a bit small. We had to shimmy between beds and to get between one end of the room to the other, so having 3 large suitcases made it difficult to maneuver around.
I needed a bed and that was it. The room had 2 - which was a lot of bed for such a small room. The air con died in the early evening, so started filling the room with hot air - had to turn it off, but didn't get a good sleep as a result. Cleaners left the last persons left over meal in the fridge which left me wondering what else had not been changed/checked :nIt was otherwise okay - comfy, good location, nice staff, reasonable price, and able to use the Novotel facilities next door. No parking at all - so you have to park on the road.
Staff were lovely however for the money spent I would expect the bathroom to not have a worn and stained sink, for there not to be paint peeling off the wall, for the shower head to not spray in all directions and for the desk not to have something clear stuck on it. Also the lamps beside the bed do not turn off properly leaving a light, although dull, on all night. And last but not least, the shelf above the fridge with the pull down door was filthy! Obviously had not been wiped out for some time.nThe bed was comfy.
I had a terrible stay at this hotel, and I regret choosing it over other options.nnFirst, the pillows were awful – extremely fluffy to the point they felt lifeless and uncomfortable, offering no support at all. I woke up with a stiff neck, making my sleep experience miserable.nnThe washbasin in the bathroom was visibly damaged and poorly glued back together, which gave a very cheap and neglected appearance.nnThe air conditioning was the worst part – it failed to cool the room properly, and instead, the room felt hotter during the night, making it difficult to sleep.nnTo make matters worse, the fridge and TV switches were turned off when I arrived, which I only realized later when my milk spoiled. This kind of carelessness is unacceptable, especially when you're paying for what’s supposed to be a quality stay.nnOverall, this was a total waste of money. I honestly wish I had booked a motel instead – it would have been cheaper and far better in quality. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
