Great Breakfast and Quiet Rooms, But the Shower Experience Needs ImprovementnWe stayed at the Millennium Hotel Rotorua over the Matariki long weekend and had a pleasant overall stay, but there were a few areas that prevented it from being a higher-rated experience.nStarting with the positives, the hotel is in an excellent location, conveniently situated close to Lake Rotorua, the Polynesian Spa, and within easy walking distance of the city centre. Despite being busy during the holiday weekend, our room was surprisingly quiet, and we had no issues with noise from neighbouring rooms or outside traffic. This made for a very restful night's sleep.nThe standout feature of our stay was undoubtedly the breakfast buffet. It was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had in New Zealand. There was an impressive variety of hot and cold options, plenty of fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, cooked breakfast items, and even fresh watermelon, which was a pleasant surprise in winter. Everything was well-stocked despite the hotel being busy, and there was enough choice to suit almost everyone's taste. If you're staying here, I would highly recommend including breakfast with your booking.nUnfortunately, there were also some disappointments. For a 4.5-star property, the rooms felt a little small compared with other hotels in a similar category and price range. While the room was clean and functional, it lacked the spacious feel we were expecting.nThe biggest issue was the shower. The hotel appears to have installed one of those water-saving showerheads designed to increase pressure while reducing overall water flow. In theory this sounds great, but in practice the experience was not enjoyable. The shower creates the sensation of strong water pressure because the water is delivered in very fine streams, but the actual volume of water is quite low. During a cold Rotorua winter morning, it felt like lots of tiny water particles were hitting your body, yet there wasn't enough warm water flow to provide the comfortable, enveloping shower experience you'd expect. As a result, we often still felt cold while showering.nI understand the importance of water conservation, but I think the current shower setup compromises guest comfort too much. If management could replace the showerheads with a more balanced design that provides better water flow while still being efficient, it would significantly improve the guest experience.nOverall, this is a good hotel with an excellent breakfast, a fantastic location, and quiet rooms. However, the relatively small rooms and underwhelming shower experience mean I can only give it 3 stars. With a few updates, especially to the bathrooms, it could easily be a much stronger offering.
Overall, a pleasant staynBeen with Millennium in China but I would say this one in Rotorua is relatively simpler and also lower standard.nBut, this does not mean it was bad, it is still good, just got room for improvementnWhat can be improved is can put some toiletries into consideration, like toothbrushes, slippers, which many patrons would expect the hotel to provide.nAnd some facilities are aging but not too much check again some of the lockers in spa changing roomnRather than that, all goodnWould stay again
Great stay here for work, room was a newly renovated balcony room, it was really practically thought out with everything you need, including a jug and milk. There was a large shower, good storage and comfy bed. All the staff were more than helpful, offering to take my bag to the room. Location is perfect, you can walk to the Polynesian pools next door, but there are hot pools onsite too. Breakfast - one of the best I've had, on parr with intercontinental. Great choice, ill be back.
I had a fantastic stay at Millennium Hotel Rotorua and would happily give it a full 5 stars. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of Rotorua and within easy walking distance of key attractions, restaurants, and the lake. It made exploring the area incredibly convenient.nnThe hotel itself has a great atmosphere, and the in-house bar was a real highlight. It’s a lovely spot to unwind in the evening with a well-made drink and a relaxed vibe after a day of sightseeing.nnThe rooms were clean, very comfortable beds, and well-appointed, providing everything needed for a relaxing stay. I especially appreciated how quiet and restful it was at night.nnWhat truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service from the staff. Check-in was smooth and welcoming, thanks in particular to Joshua, who was friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. He set the tone for the entire stay and made a great first impression.nnOverall, a wonderful experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to others visiting Rotorua.
Great hotel, room service options are phenomenal. I had issues with the TV where not all channels were operational, and the wifi instructions are different from the instructions on the info provided upon arrival. Due to the challenges of the television, I would have hoped for technology to be able to cast my own shows to the TV, which was also not an option. The staff upon my asking for support were good and couldn’t do anything outside of what was happening! Room was clean and tidy. Good stay overall!
