We had a great stay at the Millenium Rotorua last weekend.nnThe rooms have been updated recently and are modern and clean both the room and bathroom. The indoor pool and communal hot pools were lovely - only comment would be that kids aren’t supposed to use the hot pools as they are in the spa area - so you can’t relax in the hot tubs while watching the kids in the main pool. The bar was great and Cole in particular was wonderful - very friendly and helped us surprise my mum with a small cake we had prepared for her birthday. He makes an amazing mulled wine too - defintely a nice treat at the end of the day during winter.nnBreakfast could be improved slightly - some of the buffet options were cold and would be great if they included different types of coffee in the price.nnWould definitely stay again.
We had the worst experience at this hotel. We are traveling with our family of nine. The moment we walked into this hotel the staff were rude & unfriendly. We asked for our luggage to be delivered to our rooms, they made us feel small as they were doing us a big favor. We didn't realize that the hotel had a masquerade party & we had 3 young kids. The party was in the lobby in front of the reception desk. We went to our room & the kids wanted to go swimming. The pool lights were out at 6pm. We came downstairs to go to reception & was chased by some old security lady telling us we can't go through the lobby & to use the pool area as they had rented the whole place. We told her that we need to go to the front desk & she wouldn't let us in. Kindly mentioned we are also paying guests of the hotel. After some heated argument we spoke to a very cold manager who just listen & would not say a word. He was not helpful but took us around the building for access to the hotel as we needed to get food. In the meantime my grandkids were swimming & they turned the lights off. My daughter tried to go to reception to get towels & have the pool lights turned on, she got sworn at by some guests & security wouldn't allow her in the lobby. We addressed it with the manager on duty as two families have had terrible experiences & we are staying at this hotel for couple of days. We had excellent service at the Grand Millennium in Auckland but nothing like this. We are paying guests & traveled from Canada to experience something to this extreme is totally unacceptable. I don't recommend this hotel as the service is poor & staff are not friendly. There are better choices in Rotorua!
Very clean rooms and amenities seem to be well maintained. Found staff all-round friendly and helpful. We had breakfast in one of the 2 restaurants and the buffet had a good variety, enough to cater for all dietary needs. Only issue is that parking space is limited onsite and you may have to park on the roadside. We had a great stay overall.
The hotel is simple and clean. For me cleanliness is the most important component of a hotel. The staff was courteous and helpful. The room has basic amenities, along with a safe etc as you would expect or a 4-star. Rotorua has a sulphuric smell so just be aware. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is that it had a carpet and it made me a bit stuffy the next day. I couldn’t really open the window due to the smell outside. Overall, a great place to stay for a short time.
We have stayed here several times over the past few years mostly for travel for work. In the last year there have been siginificant updates in the rooms and they are now excellent. The finishing details including a beautiful soft woolen rug on the bed, the colour scheme and finishing are all high standard. The team in the hotel are always courteous and we look forward to coming back on our next visit.
