Millennium Hotel Rotorua

A rather mixed review. Initially we were put in an older room but moved to an updated one as I asked for a room with a shower. I don't know why not all guests are not put in the newer rooms from the start! Lovely room but the air con wasn't working well. Pool was great. Food at the restaurant was good in parts, don't get the risotto. Girl at the front desk was rude when I tried to get more details around their save the kiwis a meal programme. She lacked patience and kept repeating herself instead of listening to what I was saying. Nice looking lobby and being able to buy an ice cream was a nice touch. A pricey place, wouldn't stay again as not quite worth it.

We got lucky and had one of the newly renovated rooms , it was beautiful. The bathroom was so nice the bed was huge and comfy and had new fluffy pillows. They had a very nice breakfast in the mornings.

Air Con not running very cold I needed to open windows to get the temperature right. Booked 5 rooms and only 1 room had fully cold and working aircon . Rooms not offering much complimentary additions. A hair cap small vanity pack and sanitary bag. Housekeeping was excellent quick and super clean when I asked if the had moisturiser she gave some but these are not offered in the room???nTowels are small and pool towels are much bigger and nice nWe payed $100pp for a mid Christmas buffet, not good at all, food lacked flavour and care. Appreciate the night potter and cleaner but the rest were not very helpful at all.

Updating my review after returning 6 years later. Still a three star at best. Hotel is dated and charging a premium for a refurb is… well…nnBreakfast is okay. I work in the food industry and know it should be better but it is passable. The wait staff need some training as trying to find a table amongst the many dirty ones is tricky.nnGood side. Great view, good pillows no choice in fancy ones though, okay mattresses. And great location.

Upon entering the presentation and location is easily five stars. The lobby is beautiful and you have a wonderful view. The rooms are however a very different story.nnIn both my friends and my room there were tears in the carpet. My room the shower didn't work. The handle just pulled out. My friends key card failed twice and had to be recorded in our two day stay. Overall I was a bit disappointed in something that was supposed to be a four star+ hotel. The rooms need a lot for focus.
