Arawa Park Hotel Rotorua

Stayed here overnight with the Family room knowing that this will give us comfort for a small family of 3. We had 3 beds and would say that they are comfortable but sad to say I woke up with some bedbug bites in my body. The room smells old like it was not cleaned properly.nThe Bathroom was old like came from 80s. It was not cleaned properly seeing some hairs on the floor. The toilet seat was too high that my daughter needs our help for her to use it even I was not comfortable using it even though I'm 5'8 in height.nnThe breakfast was just average. We did not enjoy the food. Would suggest just to eat at a cafe instead.

Room was lovely and spacious and had everything I needed incl a little outside patio overlooking the racecourse which was nice to open the door and let some fresh air into the room. Great having an overhead ceiling fan in the room. The hotel has a feeling of past grandeur - maybe some historic photos of guests and the race course and people in the restaurant would be a nice touch...Have to say the staff are lovely, friendly and super-helpful. I had an online meeting run over time and they were hospitable with me having a later check out. From the room service menu - recommend the falafel salad and golden fries - delicious and couldn't eat it all although I wanted to - wholesome and tasty. Thank you for making my over night business trip enjoyable. I will definitely recommend!

I booked a room at this hotel five days in advance and received a confirmation. Upon arrival, I was informed that the hotel was sold out and my reservation could not be honored. Despite showing my booking confirmation, the staff was unable to assist and offered no alternatives. This was extremely disappointing and inconvenient. I hope the management can improve their reservation system and customer service to prevent similar issues in the future.

This hotel is in sore need of renovation. The bathrooms look like they're stuck in 1972 with these huge corner jacuzzis and old rusty fixtures. They need to pull everything out and start over. They also need to fix the issue with there being only stairs to get to the first floor. There is no ramp or elevator to the first floor. Another thing--breakfast was so bad. The eggs were watery and the selection was pretty paltry. The only thing I found down there to eat was hard-boiled eggs. The hotel has a good location though and the staff was very courteous. The accommodation and breakfast just needs some intense special attention.

The room was spacious and clean. Unfortunately, that was about the only good thing about the place.nMy partner and I used to stay at this place when it was the Rydges years ago.nThe structure and location of the place are the same, but the bathrooms and structure now seem quite run down.nWhen I booked this room last minute with a jacuzzi bath, I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing bath.nThe jacuzzi was in a nice closed off room of its own with the privacy and windows overlooking the race course.nIt was quite disappointing, once the bath was poured and after waking especially early to enjoy a soak, to find the jets weren't working.nWe booked accommodation for 4 people and were only given 4 towels, so we we had to ask for more.nThere were only a few tissues in the tissue box.nThe TV channels kept skipping to random channels that had not been selected.nThere were no cutlery bowls, plates, or glasses.nNo microwave and no snack bar.nRoom service closes at 9:30pm.
