Story

Situated just off the main street and away from busy traffic noise, Sport of Kings is a home away from home! All of our rooms and amenities have been newly refurbished over the past year to provide comfort and relaxation in a peaceful serene environment.
We are Kiwi owned and operated and being locals have extensive knowledge of Rotorua and what our amazing city and surroundings has to offer and our hospitality is the best you could find – check out our reviews on Trip Advisor!
Our 16 ground floor rooms range from two bedroom apartments that sleep 6 to one bedroom spa apartments where you can relax in your own private indoor spa pool day and night. Our studio units sleep two or three and are perfect for business travellers or those wanting a quiet comfortable room at a great price!
All of our rooms have kitchen or kitchenettes, thermally heated hot water, individually controlled thermal heating, flat screen tv’s, satellite channels and free DVD hire. Comfortable lazy-boy recliner chairs are included in most rooms and free unlimited filtered water is available in every room. All rooms are serviced daily!
We have two public spa pools and a heated outdoor swimming pool for your use during your stay all year round along with a BBQ and BBQ table poolside which you are welcome to use – a great way to cater for everyone while enjoying the beautiful landscaped surroundings. And to entertain children we have a playground for hours of entertainment.
Centrally located close to Rotorua CBD, Thermal Valleys, Maori Hangi and Concert Events, world renowned Mountain Bike Tracks, pristine trout fishing lakes, you have everything at your fingertips.
We have a purpose built bike wash down area, bike service station, storage for mountain bikes and a drying room to get your gear ready for your next ride!! Perfect for families, holiday makers, mountain bikers and business people alike.

All of our rooms have been newly refurbished and with a variety of rooms to suit every need we are sure you will feel at home!

Stayed on the 2 bed apartment during winter. Lovely and warm. It has extra heaters and blankets in bedrooms. Amazing customer service. The pool has long hours, we still got a dip after a full day of fun in town, the water was nice and hot. Full kitchen, great shower pressure, good internet, tv, etc. Cannot fault the placeRooms: 5/5
Spent three nights here, the rooms felt clean. We had a room with a private spa, and while a bit dated it was bliss coming back on a cold day to soak in. Car park was tight but manageable. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic!! We are over the moon with our choice of motel. We arrived at reception, and were greeted with the warmest welcome. On booking I mentioned it was for an Anniversary, when shown to our room, it was super special to see 2x red helium balloons and a heart chocolate on our bed. Personal touch that started our stay with so much positivity. Our room was great with our own spa, bed was comfortable, lovely sheets, spa towels, coffee and milk etc, our room was serviced, towels changed etc that was appreciated. Heated pool was a treat, wasn't too hot was extremely clean as was the area. The location was great all the things we wanted to do were no more than 15mins away, the motel was also quiet, although it was full it was prefect. We would absolutely book again, and would recommend your motel to our whanau & friends The only recommendation I would make is some type of air con or additional fan one small fan was in wardrobe would be helpful during the hotter months Thank you so much
A lovely Motel on a quiet street. We had 2 beds, 1 in a bedroom next to the private hot tub & 1 bed in the lounge. It was a drive into town & to Te Puia, but both were probably a 20 mins walk if you wanted to walk.Rooms: 5/5
It was disappointing to find a very hot room with heating on high in the middle of summer with no air conditioning or even a fan. The heat was unbearable forcing us to sleep with the door open as well as windows. There was no after hours commication making it impossible to let anyone know of our concerns. All this led to a very sleepless night. Also the shower and bathroom needed a good clean especially the shower box. We would like a refund please. Rooms: Too hot turn heating off provide fan or air conditioner, clean shower
Exceptional service which really made the difference. Without asking, they left the laundry room open late so I could wash my clothes after a bottle of wine broke in my luggage, offered an area to dry out my hiking boots, and provided us with old towels when we mentioned we would be doing the Hells gate mud spa which leaves your bathing suit and towels smelling of sulphur. Rooms were nothing fancy but were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed.
Staff are very accommodating and friendly and the rooms are great especially the rooms with private spa pools. Will definitely be staying here when I visit Rotorua nextRooms: 5/5
I recommend this place anybody staying in Rotorua for a lengthy time. My mum & siblings stayed here for over a week & couldn't sing enough praises about the owners. A personal thank you to the team here! You went the extra distance for my Whanau & we will never forget that!
