Arista of Rotorua Motel

Stayed for two nights, 3 adults, there to see the surrounding attractions. Milk left in the fridge and big selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and other drinks and biscuits. Very clean. Loads of towels and toiletries. Beds super comfy. Good air con and fans. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub after a very long day of walking.

Arista is deceiving you on their web site. They withhold the fact that the bathroom is on the first floor and the beds on the second floor. If this information was listed on their site, I would not have booked this hotel due to my knee issues, vertigo and need to use the bathroom throughout the night.nnThe rooms are run down, could use new paint, and the rug looks like there are years of germs embedded. The spa area is small, dirty and covered. No day light at all. The rooms have very small windows making it all very dark and of course, there is no view of the lake which is 1.5 miles down the road and the center of town. You are literally away from all the action.nnWe arrived on a rainy dark day, was shown the room and immediately called another hotel to move to. Arista will not refund my money and I find this to be poor a business decision. They falsely advertise their hotel which have really the most depressing rooms. If you want to stay in a bright, well lit, clean, comfortable room with a view, do NOT stay here.

Arrival was fine. The front desk clerk was polite . When we entered the room it had a horrible smell it was so bad that we had to air the room out for over 2hrs and even then it was still there the carpets where damp and I suspect mold is growing underneither causing the horrible stench. I ended up going to the front reception for some spray to make it barable but it didn't achieve much I suffer from bad asthma and was struggling to breath most of the night I had to constantly go outside to catch my breath . The inside windows were covered in green and black grime. The ceiling fan upper room was coated in thick dust that had covered the pillows in dust. The toilet had not been cleaned at all. There were stains all around the bowl. The majority of the cups , plates, and cooking utensils had not been properly cleaned and were covered in a greasy film with food still stuck to things. I again told the front clerk the following morning that the room was horrendous. The blame was just put on previous staff. For $278 a night, I expected more. I won't be returning again, and I advise others to find another motel.
