We spent 2 nights here and found it fantastic. After reading reviews we felt slightly apprehensive if it was a good choice. We ended up being pleasantly surprised. The room was super clean and beds were comfy.nAdmittedly it is a bit dated but that's not really a worry for us. The spa and heated pool were fantastic. Especially after doing a marathon. We definitely plan to stay again next year!
Definitely be back for sure. Kids love the pool & spa. Bonus they have everything here, restaurant/bar/gaming. Beds are luxurious 10/10. Good facilities in room we had awesome. Staff were lovely.nnMe & Family will be back
Not a Hotel – Just a Dressed-Up Motel. Avoid if You Want a Real Hotel Experience.nnIf you're looking for a real hotel experience in Rotorua, Copthorne is not it. This place is basically a very standard, worn-out motel that happens to have a swimming pool and a hot spa – and that’s the only reason it’s even clinging to the “hotel” title.nnThe property is tired and clearly in desperate need of a full upgrade. The beds were not comfortable, the furnishings are outdated, and the whole place has that run-down vibe like it hasn’t seen investment in years. Whoever is managing this place clearly doesn’t want to spend a single cent on improvements – and it shows.nnWe reached out a week before check-in asking about a room upgrade. No reply. Just flat-out ignored, which says a lot about how seriously they take customer service. Also, don’t expect any loyalty recognition. We were told that since we booked through Expedia, our Millennium loyalty membership was irrelevant and we wouldn’t get any points. So much for being a loyal customer.nnWe didn’t even bother with their breakfast after reading multiple bad reviews – honestly, it didn’t seem worth the risk. That said, we did enjoy using the hot pool and spa, which were a welcome break and probably the only real highlight of the stay.nnWe also want to give credit where it’s due – the staff at check-in were polite, and a special mention to the lovely lady who came to service our room, who was extremely friendly and kind.nnBut overall? This place is running on fumes, likely because of poor management or someone who’s just too greedy to price rooms reasonably or reinvest into the property. No wonder the place was nearly empty when we checked in. Or probably they have intentionally put us in a very worn out room because we have booked through expedia but that's how we have felt.nnBottom line: If you're after a real hotel experience with comfort, service, and value – look elsewhere.
We booked this super last minute after changing plans, The bed was comfortable, but the hotel overall felt very tired and outdated. The pool had missing tiles & could be a safety concern, and the gym was disappointing, with a leaking roof and outdated/broken equipment. The staff were lovely and welcoming, but the shared facilities and overall presentation were very basic. Additionally, the photos online are not an accurate reflection of how the hotel looks in person, which was quite disappointing.nWe could also hear a guest next door snoring, and above room when they went to toilet.
We came here for our min moon, I had my mum call them a week prior to our stay to let them know she had paid for a bottle of wine and chocolate, was a little disappointed that when they arrive they didn’t say anything to us even tho the lady said she would make a note of it, the week prior. The bottle of wine that was already paid for wasn’t even in our room and my mum had to call them to get it sorted out, so a little disappointed in that area considering it was our min moon, the pool is also way to hot for the summer, it would of been nice not to be so heated, but I will say the breakfast staff were amazing, we didn’t realise that breakfast was over at 9.30 on the first morning and we arrived as they were cleaning up but they still accommodated for us which was really nice, but I don’t know if I would stay here again, definitely not like that photos they put online
