Our experience at Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital was nothing short of outstanding.nnWe arrived at 8:30am on a Friday morning and were welcomed into admissions to begin the paperwork. Luigi and Carol were absolutely amazing. They were thorough, professional, and immediately put my wife and me — but especially our daughter — at ease. They shared a few jokes, explained which doctors and nurses would be caring for her, and even encouraged us to grab some snacks while we waited. Their warmth made a very nerve-racking morning feel far more manageable.nnAfter admissions, my wife and daughter were taken through to have IV lines set up and to meet some of the medical team. Theatre nurse Charlotte, Dr Jakes and Dr Boyle came through and kept our daughter well informed and relaxed throughout. Unfortunately, I wasn’t present for all of it, so I can’t name everyone involved, but thank you sincerely for the reassurance and care shown to us during what was a very scary time.nnWhile waiting for my wife to return, Luigi kindly offered me a beverage and a biscuit and made me feel welcome, even though I wasn’t the patient. That small gesture meant a great deal.nnOnce reunited, we were shown to our daughter’s room to drop our bags and wait if we wished. The room was clean and tidy — something you expect in a hospital, of course — but having seen some shockers elsewhere, I can honestly say these facilities did not disappoint.nnWe stepped out briefly for something to eat, and upon returning were told we would be moved to a larger room to better accommodate my wife staying overnight with our daughter. It was such a thoughtful and pleasant surprise, and we were genuinely grateful for the extra effort made on our behalf.nnWhen our daughter came out of recovery, she was a real “Chatty Kathy”, entertaining us with her tales from the recovery room and making us all laugh — a lovely moment of lightness after a tense few hours.nnFrom that point on, the staff truly stepped up their game — and I unfortunately dropped mine by forgetting some of the wonderful names. There were so many attentive professionals caring for her throughout her stay. Apologies if I’ve missed anyone, but a heartfelt thank you to nurses Harriet both of you!, Sarah, Ellie, Kim, Lisa, Jenny, Joy, Bella, Betty, Hika and Ingrid, as well as Katelyn, the physio. Your patience, kindness and professionalism were deeply appreciated. The non-judgemental, compassionate care you showed meant so much — especially for a young, body-conscious woman navigating a vulnerable experience.nnTo everyone involved, thank you for making what could have been an overwhelming ordeal into one marked by reassurance, dignity and genuine care. We are truly grateful.
I recently was to have spinal surgery and this was the hospital chosen to be where I was to have the operation.nnPleased to say the communication prior was excellent, with very clear instructions on what I was to do and be prepared for. An early check in at 06:30, but within 15mins I was in my dedicated room, which were I to stay overnight would be an excellent room for just that. En suite toilet/shower and power points with TV were all provided as well as a little safe for small personal items.nnThe operation experience was excellent and I must say that the nurse dedicated to my operation was truly superb. I won't mention names but started with T here but everything was timely, professional and courteous and the whole experience of the day was one that wasn't faced with trepidation at all.nnSadly, or fortunately, depending on your view, I wasn't able to face any meals as I was first in, so didn't need to stay overnight and aside from the sandwiches and jelly plus ice cream, I couldn't sample the hospitality anymore than that. I was discharged with minimal fuss with an explanation of all the drugs I was given and have been recovering well since.nnWould certainly recommend based on my experience from pre to post operation.
Dr Jafer and the entire team at endoscopy, colonoscopy, was absolutely divine, friendly, humerous and professional. The warm and vibrant greeting at the arrival to the reception followed by kind nurse who even went extra miles to get paediatric needles to find my hidden vein so make it a painless procedure. The highlight was Dr Jafer who came with a big smile and sense of humility and ease to make me feel comfortable and relieved. The colonoscopy was so smooth I felt nothing at all even after the procedure. Highly satisfied and best recommendation is well deserved. Thank you so much team.
I'd like to express my heart felt thanks to all the staff and in particular the nurses that cared for me post my surgery last week. The accommodation, the food and the overall care was 5 stars. Thank you very much. Mike Zelcer
