ED is awful. Even if your need is very urgent - heart or possible stroke you will wait MANY hours before anything happens and probably pick up Covid from the waiting room. So long that you wonder what the point was in trying to get urgent help. Even if you have a doctor's referral. No wonder people die in EDs while waiting. Next time I wouldn't bother as they are a complete waste of time.
Extremely Disappointed with Auckland City HospitalnnI had an incredibly frustrating experience at Auckland City Hospital. I took my partner in for emergency care, and we ended up waiting 11 hours just to speak with a doctor. After finally seeing the doctor, she mentioned she would consult with a specialist and come back to us. However, an hour later, we were informed that she had already gone home. There was no communication about handing the case over to a specialist, and it felt like our concerns were completely disregarded.nnThe staff seemed indifferent and didn’t show any urgency or care. I was told to take some Panadol and wait, with no further explanation or care plan. This is not what you expect in an emergency situation. It felt like no one took our condition seriously, and the lack of proper management and communication was astonishing.nnAfter waiting for 13 hours, I was not only frustrated but also unwell myself. This experience was beyond disappointing and reflects poorly on the hospital’s level of care and attention. Hopefully, they will take effective actions and implement better plans to handle patients more efficiently and with the care they deserve in the future.
Big and very efficient staff. Customer service and care for people strongly manifested. Kudos to all health workers and the Government for keeping your commitment to the community to have a safe and available healthcare for free to every kiwi.nIt was our first time to visit this place, our anxiety has turned to gratification and calmness. Grateful kudos New Zealand
I would to say a huge thanks to the wonderful Staff, Nurses, Surgeons, Consultants, Drs, Physiotherapist {the cat lover}and the Kitchen staff and cleaner and anyone else who I may have missed. you are an amazing team. You made my time there so much easier, cared for with kindness and smiles and good food. I had a room with a five star view. Thank you all once again.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses, doctors, ward clerks, cleaners, and orderlies at the ICU of Auckland City Hospital who cared for my partner during his recent stay. After suffering a heart attack, he was brought to the Emergency Department, where the team's professionalism and dedication were immediately apparent. Once he was moved to the ICU, his care continued seamlessly.nnThe doctors and nurses communicated every decision and plan for his recovery with cultural awareness and professionalism. The information provided was clear, simple, and easy for our family to understand. We always knew what to expect, which was incredibly reassuring.nnA special mention goes to our night shift nurse, MONICA. Your compassionate care went beyond the duties of a nurse. You made my partner comfortable and cared for him alongside our family. Thank you for your dedication to your profession.nnTo our day nurses, MAKAYLA, you're amazing! Best of luck with your pregnancy, and I hope you deliver the next All Black in April. nnVIVEK, you’re the MAN! Your enthusiasm, gentleness, and passion for your job were truly inspiring. You all are incredible. Thank you, everyone. nnAs we move to North Shore for his recovery, we hope it’s a good CCU.
