The staff were amazing! The wonderful lady in charge went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Agreed the facilities are out-dated but we were informed of that when we arrived. She also explained that the hotel was under maintenance and they were doing they're best to get everything fixed asap. No problems with our room. We had everything we needed. We went as a group of 14 for a netball tournament and stayed for 3 nights. We will definitely stay again and we look forward to seeing the improvements.
Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The bathroom was so dirty we wouldn’t wash in it. The taps were black and when I spilt something on the sink & wiped it off it showed how dirty the rest of it was. The pool was green and unusable and I’m disabled and was told the lift was round the back and “it’s probably easier for you to use the stairs”!! The fan switch was broken, the bed wasn’t great though thankfully the sheets were clean. No milk just creamer packets. Amazing view but the smell was bad, desperately needed a clean, definitely stay somewhere else for the money it cost! Not cheap for what we got!
Easy and fast check in. Room was heated upon our arrival which was great as the day was very cold and wet. Free spa was great. Private and clean. Room and the decor had seen better days, however for the price. I am not complaining. Bathroom was great, nice hot water with great pressure. Definitely will stay again.
Needed a refit years ago. Electrics are a joke. The TV is mounted in a hole in the wardrobe and is tiny with 4 channels. Dirty bathroom with a sign claiming it is the sulphur, but wiping the bench would fix it. Noisy. Beds are terrible. Only window was on a shared walkway so no privacy at all. Paper thin walls. Don't believe the pictures with views, I had to stand on a bed and stick my head out the window to even get a glimpse of the geyser. Staff were nice, shame what they have to work with.
First room had view of geysers, broken tiles in bathroom, dirty appearing, broken tape player on floor. I asked for a second room, didn't have internet access and I need it for my work. I was informed no rooms with views have internet access. I got a "refurbished" room above the reception area with sounds from the lobby and highway. Internet worked, lack of plugs, dirty, bed had moldy odor. The pool has about 10 cm of algae filled water in it. There is no bar. The staff is very friendly. I booked my next night down the road a bit.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - This is a warning. We were given 3 rooms and all of them had problems. The first one only 2 lights worked, the second one had a hole in the wall and the third one had toe nail clippings on the floor. Then they thought it was courtesy to put us up in another hotel only to find out they owned that one too. Disgusting and they still wouldn't give us our money back. Let's not forget that they're photos don't match the hotel. There is no pool and all the facilities are warn down and rusty!
Rooms are not tiny but the entire place is run down. While clean and with no mildew smell the carpets look filthy because they are stained and worn. There was mold in our shower along with cracked enamel in both tub and sink. Our fridge somehow managed to work in reverse and warmed everything- despite requests to check it no one did. Cleaners knew it was broken as we were never provided with milk. Wi-Fi only available in reception - which was so rarely manned we never had a chance to use it. We only saw staff twice in our 3 day stay. Once to check us in - and once to tell us that someone would be up to check on the fridge. The spa/restaurant/spout pools and many other features were not open. The view if the geyser was it's one redeeming feature. The Maori village keeps it lit for a good while after dark 8pm ish so you do get to spend some time looking at it. Would only stay again if paying less for room. Full price is not worth it
Very disappointing. The place is very run down, it doesn't look like the owner takes pride in what he's got. Potholes in the drive way is just the start. The bedroom was dirty and the water was cold. I asked the front desk if they can have a look at why the water is cold and they said they will have a look at the boilers but the next day it was cold water again. Also our towels had stains on them. The TV is the size of a computer screen. I will definitely not recommend this place to anybody travelling to rotorua. I have photos of every little detail about this place to prove that I'm not just making this up. Also you can hear the people next door talking and slamming doors closed. Please if you consider going to rotorua go anywhere else but here
The bed was comfortable and the room was moderately functional with a bath to relax in. The room on the top floor works well enough for a cheap budget motel room for a night, understanding that all of your eating will be done elsewhere. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this "Hotel" to potential travelers unless they're just looking for somewhere cheap to lay their head briefly. Hotel staff were friendly but will only offer information if you directly ask for it. The hotel information book was hidden one of the drawers. I awoke in the morning to find a cockroach climbing the wall I was told they were clean cockroaches coming from the mud pool. The elevator was old and didn't always work. The steps next to the elevator were functional but the steps on the other side fire escape were too narrow and full with spiders. There was no water in the jug. A fridge with cups, but no microwave or plates. The room was outdated with a power jack with burn marks running underneath it and the heater was incredibly old. My sister booked me a room with a view of the geysers, on the top floor. I was happy to watch the geysers from a safe distance but when I woke up in the morning the geysers weren't merely in the Wakarewarewa park and beyond the safety fence, but all around me - including a couple of geysers erupting from the concrete in the carpark where I had my car - it was then that the Hotel Receptionist explained that the hotel was sitting on top of an active geyser with two floors underground to help with the steam. Gosh - I wish my sister and I had known that before she booked my night there.
Don't ever stay at this place unless its the last resort. Some of the lights didn't work in the room. Toilet seat was broken and the toilet didn't flush. If they upgraded the hotel it would be great!! but its really bad and smells awful. So disappointing wish I read the reviews before I booked.
