Malfroy Motor Lodge

The photos that are online of this place is not how it looks. They are deceiving and catfish. The rooms are old and have a weird smell to it. The pools empty & looks like it’s rotting away. Does not look clean at all, the outside grass area is long.. The first room we got given started leaking from the roofRoom 5 We then got given another room which was Room 7. & the back door doesn’t lock at all. That is unsafe for visitors. So I would suggest you be careful if any of these rooms are yours during your stay. Apart from all of that the owner Martin is really nice.. but that is the only good thing I can say about this place.

This place is a very disgusting. Please take my advice never ever book this lodge. The rooms are just similar to a horse stable. Bedsheets were dirty, toilet and bathroom looked filthy. The entire room looked like it wasn't cleaned up for ages. Even the surrounding the grass were tall and over grown. This place is just Rooms: 1/5

This place is disgusting, it doesn't matter if it is old but it doesn't take much to make it clean. The bathroom and toilet was the worst I've ever seen,these photos were taken when we arrived. The owners were never around and I got a text to tell us what units we were in. The cleaners just opened the window and threw anything left from the last people out the window. Very filthy, pictures are old and need to be updated, everything is worn and over grown. Pool not in use and so many hazards outside property. Spa bath needs a good scrub, couldn't wait to leave, Definitely wont be visiting again!!

Owner was rude and arrogant, took our money from our bank before we had even arrived to check in, photos on internet are misleading as it looks beautiful and peaceful but when you get there it is run down and neglected and the room was smelly and old and the stove was dirty and the white towels were grey, when we cancelled he took all our money and told me I had no rights, and this motel also houses homeless and emergency housing, so the motel is also falsely advertising. Someone else is already in our room so he is double dipping, has our money and theirs. The tourism bureau said the are under investigation from the local council for health & safety breaches.

Don’t waste your money staying here. Pictures are old and misleading.. Everything is over grown, no water in pool. Spa bath was disgusting, mouldy and needed a good scrub. Nobody at reception. Definitely won’t be staying here again, couldn’t wait to leave. Surely they need to meet some kind of health and safety standards to operate??

Do not book at Malfoy, first of all, the owner is so rude, second of all, the photos and description are incorrect. I booked with a spabath in the room, there are no spas in the room and they look nothing like the picture advertised. The place is absolutely filthy. I mentioned that I booked a spa and so I was sent to a different motel and it was even dirtier, walls moldy, ripped curtains, dusty, smelly, and even weeds growing out from the floor! So disappointed as I saved hard for my holiday in Rotorua only to put up in a sh*hole. Thankfully a friend came to the rescue and called the owner demanding a refund for me. The owner was very very angry, he started to scream and yell at me. I was disgusted to be treated like this. Booked into Cleveland Motel, the owners are very nice and helpful and the rooms are so clean. I recommend this motel. Save yourself the hassle and DO NOT BOOK!!!

We didn't bother staying here. The owner lied to us. There was a massive stain on the floor from a leaking radiator which stunk really and was still wet even though the owner claimed it had just been fixed the night before. The owner said the outside spa/pool was full and ready to use but it was empty and dirty. We walked out and found a better motel to stay in.

This is a SCAM. STAY AWAY, ITS A HORROR. I made a mistake of not using the Tripadvisor review. Their ratings in Booking.com is 4 star and very misleading. Photos are nowhere near. Moulds inside the room. No one at the reception, I only got the text message and when I asked the manager to see us how to use the heating and need a light bulb, no milk, dirty bathroom, the mineral pool is cold and disgusting. Martin the manager did not replied to any of my calls or messages. So I tried using a different phone and he rang me back and had a shock it was me. He started yelling at me not to complain in Booking.com. and then hang up. Then he tried to ring back on my original phone only after when told him we've left. We've lost 4 nights cancellations fee. We can't stay and simply walked out and looked for another hotel.

Most disgusting place I have ever stayed. Over priced, photos are nothing like on booking.com site. Dirty, water leaks, mouldy, torn curtains, not even ready when we arrived at 5pm. No sky TV as advertised. Unfortunately had to stay as no where else available and money paid. Tbh the place should be shut down!Rooms: 1/5
