Four Canoes Hotel

Management made us feel really welcome. The manager and his wife went out of their way to give us a enjoyable last day of our holiday. We sat in the hotpool with the temperature just excellent. We talked to others and I have not laughed so much forever. I would definitely go back if I could.Rooms: 5/5

The room are big and spacious and the staff are lovely.Its is very central an easy walk to town and has large camp kitchen but the upkeep and cleanliness is way off. Ever drawer I opened was broken and the bathroom just was not cleaned. So if that dose not bother you you will be fine. PS the room has no fan or aircon which was not great either.

Staff were lovely and helpful. Good heating in the rooms during winter, beds are comfy but pillows are very uncomfortable. The bathroom is of poor condition, old/unclean and uninviting. Other guests on the floor were very loud, rooms not soundproof. Breakfast, minimal but nice.

The staff was friendly, but that is pretty much where the good remarks end. The place looks run down. There is a huge shortage in parking. The bedding is average. Make sure you know what you are paying for especially when it comes to the breakfast. Not all the options are made available online and poor clarification is given at the hotel. The available facilities like pool and thermal pool are average and guest can be noisy which keeps you awake at night. On the plus side you are close to the town center and close to everything. I would however not recommend this hotel.

Staff were nice, helpful when needed, beds were comfy and we had a renovated bathroom which was nice, super close to everything. Photos of rooms are accurate but building its self is quite run down. To start my room had been mixed up with one that was being renovated, that was resolved quickly with same room type, there was only lights on the head boards so couldn’t see very well, sky tv did not work, was no info about what to do in Rotorua, wifi code was not accessible in the room, there was very thin blankets on the bed and we ended up cold at night, not a lot of parking, building needs updating it felt a bit like hospital corridors.

Good location - at good price Less than 450.00 for 5 people over 2 nights is good. Overall the place is tired and the hallway walls and doors could do with a clean in saying that the rooms were very clean. The hot pool is lovely and hot is small though. The heated big pool could be hotter. The communal kitchen is fabulous. You get what you pay for. Nice stay thanks guys

The first room we were shown had dirt over the bed, although nicely made. We asked for another room. Second room was unclean, especially vanity, plug broken in vanity, ranch slider needed service, too hard to use, noisy stairs and noisy water pipes all night. Room not clean. Chair was disgusting. Light in bathroom not working. I wouldn't have stayed but had been drinking. Location was fine.

Literally worse stay of my entire trip. The beds are nice but staying here for 3 nights with a child and partner came here for work not worth the money. I expected what was advertised on the site no blankets the room didn’t look like how it was shown on the photo bad cleaning. Our sheets weren’t changed I had to ask to get our bed made slack very very slack.

Had booked to stay there 4 weeks ago but ended up getting a refund and stayed somewhere else. Place looked nothing like the pictures. The bathroom was mouldy, ceiling was dirty and the room had no aircon but did have a dirty fan covered in dust and looked like it hadn’t been touched in a year. Opened the sliding door and our room was located right next to the big rubbish bin. Would not recommend!
