Distinction Hotel

Great hotel for families and short break. Loved the pools and location was really close to mountain bikers favourite Redwood Forest. Buffet breakfast fairly average. Staff were always very helpful and available if you needed anything. The bar had a great range of gins if you like gin. Would go back and recommend it

Our room had no air conditioning and we were located right next to a noisy highway. The heavy trucks started racing by at 3 am in the morning and never stopped. I could not sleep well in this room. Too noisy anf too stuffy! No air conditioning in the southern wing of this hotel. It's the worst hotel room I stayed in during my entire 3 week trip in New Zealand. If you stay there in the future, check to see if you can get a room with air conditioning. The rest of the building seemed to be air conditioned, but the south side wing of the hotel was not for some odd reason. On a high note, the bar service was good, and the morning buffet was adequate.

Wasn't impressed with our high tea. Front door glass was dirty, room we were eating in was smelly so sat outside. Went to put umbrella up and it was dirty and moldy. Attended a prize giving in their conference room. We were served finger foods set up by the entrance, tasty food great service. I never stayed at the hotel this day.Service: 5/5

It was amazing all the staff were friendly and kind the only problem was the sheet was stained when we told the staff they were really nice and changed it the pools were amazing even the breakfast was amazing parking is really good and a ton of space the room had an amazing view of the pools and inside there was a salon where you can cut your hair everything there was really good even the guests were super friendly this really is the place to go for a vacation

Staff were very welcoming. Deluxe King room was comfortable and warm. I loved opening my door in the morning to such a beautiful view of the crisp morning. I miss being there already! Room service was amazing, food was amazing and I totally recommend the Sticky Date pudding. Break buffet was awesome.

Outstanding. Clean, tidy, such comfy beds. Air con, good size TV, wonderful spas, Epic buffet breakfast and I hate buffets generally-but this was actually nice with so many options: mango smoothies, croissants, Bagels, hot breakfast, musli and fruits even a cheeseboard-the only thing they need to do better is coffee - at least some filter coffee. Such a pleasant and comfortable stay. Wonderful staff. Nice decor. Really impressed

We booked to stay here due to the Maori culture show advertised on their website. We were there for a week and checked eberyday but was told there were no shows. We finally got a straight answer from one of the concierge... They only have shows when a large tour group books in! I asked if we could put our names down and if other guests are also interested, then maybe we can gather a big enough group to host it. But the hotel staff said they don't have a waiting list. The rooms were dated and small, the heater broke twice hotel staff managed to fix it both times though, there's no room service supposedly due to Covid, the spa and pool were warm but needs some renovation and love. There are no nearby restaurants other than the two in the hotel, both of which closed before 8pm despite being advertised as "open til late". We knew the next night to make a reservation if you want them to stay open. Overall, a disappointing stay. Would have chosen another hotel if we knew there were no cultural shows. The website should advertise that correctly.

I went to an industry conference at the Distinction Rotorua Hotel. The facilities were great and the staff helpful and awesome to deal with. The meals and snacks were tasty and plentiful. Without hesitation I can recommend this hotel

Beyond disappointing. We stayed for 2 nights during long weekend in their family room. The room had very strong smell and dust every where. Big obvious stains on blankets. Room didn't have kitchenette and when request for tap water- were told to use bathroom tap which had black mould around taps and holes. Hardly had any sleep as the fan in the room was shaky and so noisy. We didn't get towels or rubbish bins replaced. After a long day of activities when we returned around 7 pm and requested for towels to shower had to wait almost couple of hours. They said towels are still in washing and drying. Staff very rude, no smiles and wasn't interested in customer service. When we went to inquire for buffet breakfast we were told its included in the booking price, while we were eating breakfast staff came back to us asking for $30 per person. We 4 of us had long 2 years working tirelessly in Healthcare and was hoping to have decent experience for a change.
