Hotel location is excellent with direct view of the lake and surrounding mountain. But as the hotel is located high on the hill, it can be quite a challenge to walk up the hill to the hotel. Location up the hill also mean that during clear sky we could see plenty of stars from the hotel outdoor area. The city center where all the restaurant and activities located just 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel.nnCheck in was done efficiently by the friendly staff and the member recognition in this hotel was great with room upgrade for elite member.nnOur room faced the mountain and the lake and the view was really good. Room and bathroom was quite spacious and the housekeeping staff did a great job maintaining the room everyday.nnBreakfast in the restaurant everyday is the same choice with the standard few kinds of hot and cold buffet, with eggs and pancakes made to order but taste very good.
We stayed at Hotel St Moritz at Room 315 for three nights, and for a property that markets itself as a 5-star hotel, our experience was quite disappointing.nnI understand that parking is limited in Queenstown, but charging $40 per night for hotel guests feels excessive.nThe biggest issue was the room. The central heating system took a very long time to warm up, there was little to no ventilation, and the towel rack wasn't heated at all, which was surprising for a hotel in a winter destination. We spent much of our stay feeling cold, which was not what we expected from a luxury hotel.nAnother surprise was the lack of a microwave. Even something as simple as reheating a pie wasn't possible, so we had to eat it cold.nWe also noticed that the hallway and walkway outside our room were quite dirty.nI was looking forward to relaxing in the hot tubs, but the water wasn't hot enough. In the freezing weather, I had to run back to the room because the tub felt only lukewarm, and it seemed like it wasn't working properly.nLastly, the room décor wasn't to our taste. The prominent skull decoration gave the room a dark, unsettling feel. We would have preferred a more neutral and welcoming design, especially in a luxury hotel.nThe overall facilities simply didn't match the expectations of a 5-star hotel. Between the cold room, the non-heated towel rack, the expensive parking, and the underwhelming amenities, it was a disappointing stay for both of us.
Really enjoyed staying here. It's in a great location convenient to everywhere in Queenstown. I got upgraded to a garden view room which also had a view of the lake. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I loved that I could trade a room clean for a restaurant voucher - great idea! Lovely buffet breakfast and good coffee.
While staff was welcoming and the room was beautiful, it was overpriced for what we received. Located at the top of the hill, it was quite the climb every time back to the hotel. Parking was tight and limited despite paying $40 a night for a spot, and we were blocked in when we went to leave for the airport. The hot tub was nice, but the gate was so tall we could barely reach the latch to open, and we had to remove the covers and turn everything on ourselves. We did appreciate that it was a bit quieter of a hotel so there were no disruptions during the night.
The hotel is very nice and VERY close to the city/accessible which is lovely. The rooms are nice and the beds are comfy. Everything works well and the spa/pools are lovely and warm in the winter. I would recommend this to people staying in Queenstown for a while as its so easy to get to even just a few days. Also the view is stunning, especially in the morning!
